I am trying to connect my iPad 2 to my new hp Deskjet 2540 All in One air printer. My iPad doesn't pick it up, so I checked in settings. It locates the printer but when I try to select the printer it asks for a password! I tried the WEP key but this is not correct. Help!

Thank you for your reply. When I read the printer's manual, it gave instructions to print off a sheet from the printer for wireless direct printing by pressing the direct printing button for more than 3 secs. The password was then revealed! This enables me to print without a router.

Try using the Printer Control App from HP to connect directly to printer without router.

If you have a username and a password on the computer your using, that is what it wants for it to be able to print it.
at last, i am able to print. this method worked!
