Using MacBook Pro as a Wifi Router

I'm wanting to use my macbook pro as a router to allow my ipad to connect to the internet. Currently macbook pro is connected using ethernet cable.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities


You have to enable Internet Sharing. Open System Preferences > Sharing > Internet Sharing, and you will see this window:

1. Select "Ethernet" next to "Share your connection from", so the MacBook will take the Internet from Ethernet.


2. Tick "Wi-Fi" next to "To computers using", so you will be able to connect the iPad by Wi-Fi.


3. Tick "Internet Sharing" and connect your iPad to the Mac
