Following are the two things mentioned in the newest update.
1. Fixes bugs that could allow someone to bypass the Lock screen passcode
2. Reintroduces a Greek keyboard option for passcode entry
I assume the second is to get rid of the lighting up keys as you enter your passcode. And that is something I definitely don't like. If I can go back to the old passcode entry, I'd be thrilled. The new way makes it very obvious which numbers are being entered, IMO.
Im sorry to inform you that you are out of luck. There is no way to go back to the old keypad, unless you go back to iOS 6, which is a painful process. I suggest you just get used to it. The recent update you mentioned was sent to address a security flaw in the keypad, it had nothing to do with its appearance or functionality. The "greek" keyboard option only works if you set your iphone's language to greek, which I suggest you do not do either.
Good luck!
Agree with Chrissy that the old passcode entry in IOS6 was safer and easier to use. Why did Apple fix something that wasn't broken? Assuming Yacob is right I am gutted that Apple got my hopes up with their confusing message about 7.0.2 changes to passcode entry. It's all Greek to me!
I have never liked the keys lighting up. I just want them to randomize the keypad. This way if someone is watching you your numbers are never in the same place. So even though your always entering the same passcode the numbers are in a different location so it appears your typing a different passcode each time.
Randomizing the keyboard would be a big loss for those who remember their passcode by position. I do that on at least one of my PIN-style codes (not saying which one).
It would be OK as an option, though.
That is something you can let Apple know here: www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link. That is where they get feedback for feature requests.
What update. The keypad in iOS 7 is what it is.you cannot change it.
Do you have "Simple Passcode? enabled in Settings > General > Passcode Lock?
I guess nobody remembers that the numbers lit up back in iOS6. That's not a change. (I had to go find an iPhone still running iOS6 to check.)
I love that idea -- randomizing the keypad! So smart!
