safari constantly freezes & Makes me force reload every page

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Yeah.. that would drive anyone crazy.

Try troubleshooting extensions and third party plugins.

From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

When you next have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

View ▹ Show Log List

from the menu bar.

Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

May I try the same thing? I'm not sure I got the right entries from the log, but they seem to be entries evincing nearly as much frustration as I am feeling.

What a wonderful set of terminal lines you have created! And so perfectly clearly embedded in proper layout. I wish other posters would follow your example.. The discussions would be so much more sane and concise.

To the point of the topic: I was having similar problems, with utterly slow processing [under 10.8.5 ML, 4 GB on mini 2009], still trying to pinpoint the culprit. In the output my machine (you!) created, I find no unexpected items. This is after quitting (sloow!) all processes w/o a restart. I will wait for the following 'hang' and try again then.

I've been having the exact same issues as the original post.

I've already cleared caches.

I have no extensions / plugins knowingly installed (I removed 1Password extension)

I've removed SIMBL from my system (although, from the below, it still comes up..)

I've had to install Chrome to have a useable browser (-I know!)

Update: I 'properly' removed GLIMS using this page: http://www.machangout.com/node/9

This contains both a link to the uninstaller, and also an update for Safari 7 and Safari 6.1.

So I uninstalled Glims and things seem to be better now...

I'll confirm after more testing.

Spoke too soon.

Back to square one...

Just tested Safari in as a Guest user, and it seems to work just fine...
