IOS7 iPhone emails disappearing, are not delivered

Ever since I upgraded to IOS7 on my iPhone 4, I cannot send email. After I write the email and send it, it disappears. It does not show up in sent mail, and the intended recipient does not receive it. This happens on gmail, yahoo and aol accounts. I can send and receive email just fine on my PC laptop. But no longer on my IOS7 iPhone. Occasionally the iPhone email is delivered hours later, but that is rare. I have "rebooted" my iPhone, with no effect. Can I fix this? Is it my iPhone or is it IOS7? Can/will Apple fix this? Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know what I can do?

This is REALLY BAD. I quite often hit SEND an my outgoing emails and it is TOTALLY LOST. There is NO SIGN of it having ever existed! (iPhone 4S on the latest OS) I'm beginning to believe it might be caused by the "send" button in the upper right corner being too close to another sensitive screen area? I'm experimenting with being more careful about how I touch "send".

I have the same problem. I was able to fix the send problem by deleting and re adding the account , but now once I download my email on my PC they disappear off my iPhone. The item on the iPhone to config so that downloaded mail won't be deleted from the server is no longer an option. I also get IMAP instead of pop. .? I don't want my email deleted from the mail server until I download them to my PC. If I get the emails on my phone, they should stay on my phone until I manually delete them. This is how I had it configured for 3 years. Why is it different now? How can I make my email stay on my iPhone?

Hi Norm,

This happened to me last week and I deleted my Exchange and Gmail accounts and re-added them - this solved the problem.

However, 4 days later, the same thing has happened to me.

My phone is a business critical tool to help me do my job and I'm rapidly losing faith in my iPhone as something I can rely on.

Is this a recognised bug that you're working on resolving?

Any info to help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Cheers,

George

And no sooner did I reply that the emails are sending as they should, the problem is back. I can receive emails but I can't send them. The suggested fix worked for a few days. But this morning I tried sending some emails and they disappeared. The only way to send emails is to go to the email sites themselves and log in, and send from there. But my iPhone4 email program, running IOS7, erases sent emails without sending them. Please help!

I'm having the same issue. iPhone 5, ios 7.0.2, gmail account. Emails sent from iphone occasionally disappearing without a trace, not received by recipient, not in sent email box. This continues despite deleting and reinstating the account on my phone.

Fix please. It is a nightmare not being able to trust that your emails have been sent and received.

I'm having exactly the same problem, have uninstalled and reinstalled and didn't make a difference, works fine for a while them decides on either iPhone or iPad to look like it has sent an email but nothing happens. Email vital for running the business and if this carries on for much longer will be goodbye apple across the firm, how can they have released an upgrade that does this, need to be 100% confident on emails or no good! Apple please sort urgently

Just as the company that was famed for secure emails but decided it wanted kids who wouldn't pay for anything instead goes tits up

I'm also having the same problem. I have deleted and re-added my email accounts a couple of times, and it seems to work for a day or two. Then I'll notice it's not sending my emails again. I've noticed that if I just reboot my phone and try again, my emails start sending again.

It's getting really annoying to always have to check my sent box to make sure my email accounts are working. I hope there is a fix to this soon.

I am glad I am not the only one having this problem. Ever since I 'upgraded' to iOS7 emails from all of my email accounts have stopped sending. Once sent emails are nowhere to be found; not in the outbox, not in sent items, not in drafts. Not even an annoying 'spinning wheel' to let me know it's thinking about it.

I have deleted my accounts, reset my network settings - you name it. Nothing works. Each of these steps is not only cumbersome and time-consuming but, ultimately, futile.

Very, very occasionally the wretched thing will decide to wake up and do its job. The best I can get is around two of five emails sending - all after an inexplicable delay of about twenty minutes. The other three remain in another dimension somewhere. Two of five is an improvement on the iPhone refusing to send any of them, but hardly makes for a reliable email device.

It continues to receive emails without any problem.

I really, really do not want to have to get a BlackBerry.

Same issue, discovered by chance, so now wondering how many emails haven't gone through since updating to iOS7.

Happening with my iPod Touch latest model, messages from a Hotmail/Outlook account have been failing to send to other Hotmail/Outlook, Gmail and Yahoo accounts.

One failed three times today (ie. it sounded like it sent but didn't show in Sent folder and wasn't received). On the fourth attempt, it actually sent and arrived. It's obviously ridiculous to have to keep checking the Sent folder to see if a message has actually sent (I'd say around one in ten is failing to send) so I hope Apple can fix this soon.
