Does anyone else see a bright burst of light when using Fingerprint touch i.d?

I noticed for the fist time today that every time I use the Touch I.D. to unlock my phone, there is a bright burst of white light that emits from the upper left corner of the screen as the apps appear on the screen. When I unlock my phone with the numbered key pad, there is no burst of white light. Is anyone seeing the same thing happen? I would hate to have to swap it out.

Yes! I have that problem too, except it happens for me not just when unlocking, but also when opening and closing various apps. I can't always reproduce it though -- it is somewhat sporadic. It's of course more obvious when the app or screen has a darker color, less obvious when the app or screen is white. Don't know if it is a software or hardware issue...

Ok....here it goes. I went to the Apple Store and showed them a different problem I discovered. Everytime I used the Numbers App, the screen would go completely blue and would immediately restart. Once I showed them that issue, they immediately gave me a new phone. Once I got it resynced, I still had the exact same issues on the brand new phone. I am assuming it has to do with the Numbers App and that there will soon be a fix.

As far as the bright light is concernced, I discovered that by not having every app on the home screen in a folder and keeping one individual app in the upper left hand corner, the problem is solved. Hope this helps!

Let me know if you have the same problem with Numbers! For now, I deleted the App.

Thanks for the update.

I opened Numbers for the first time after reading your post and it worked fine. I opened a couple spreadsheets without any problem...

I have had an individual app in the upper left and a mix of individual apps and folders on the home screen since the first day but the bright light still comes on periodically. In fact it came on and stayed on for a few seconds -- longer than usual -- when I opened the Numbers app...

Oh well. It doesn't seem to cause a problem, but at some point I'll try to bring it in to a store.

I had to go to the Apple Store for a different reason, so I decided to tell them about the white light thing. Of course I was having trouble getting it to show up with the Genius standing there, but I told him it had happened with the Numbers app once. So he opened the Numbers app and, low and behold -- for the first time ever -- a blue screen flashed and the phone restarted...

So he said, ok, now I can give you a new phone because I saw this happen with the Numbers app. So I have the new phone and am in the process of restoring it right now.

Have you seen the white light thing again with your new phone? I know you said that the Numbers app had the same issue.

thanks

Once I took one app out of a folder and placed it in the upper left corner, the white flash is gone and i've not seen it since.

I did a Google search on the numbers "blue screen" situation and it is an identified problem with the app, not the phone. I suppose we can expect to see an upgrade to the software to fix soon.

You can avoid the blue screen by exiting the spreadsheet to the spreadsheet menu as opposed to simply closing the app immediately after using a spreadsheet.

I have the same issue. I can also see the white light issue when using spotlight search on certain pages. Has anyone else tried this? I have been tinkiering about with my phone and noticed that it seems that it's certain apps that's causing this, Temple Run Oz, Real Racing 3 are definite causes. Eg if I unlock my phone using the fingerprint sensor or use spotlight search on a page where these apps are on (but opening an app on a different page), I get the white light effect, but if I then move these apps to a different location (even on the same page), the white light effect doesn't happen. I have another iPhone (waiting to go back to Apple), which I backed up from itunes, and this phone reacted in exactly the same way. I have spoken to Apple who seem to think that it is an apps issue, and suggested I delete all my apps and re download every app from itunes which I am a bit reluctant to do due to the time involved and not having a guarantee this would work. My father also has an iPhone 5s which he downloaded Temple Run Oz to see if he could get his phone to react like mine (his is fine). His phone seemed to be OK, but I couldn't get his screen to be an exact replica as mine as he doesn't have the huge amount of apps that I do! It would be interesting if someone could do the same tests as me so see what the result is.

That's interesting. I have the same problem. I get a burst of bright white light from the top left corner of my phone whenever I proceed from the lock screen using the finger print sensor. What's interesting is that the bright light does not appear when I proceed from the lock screen by swiping to unlock and then entering my password. It only occurs when I trigger the motion with the finger print sensor. Of course, when you to turn on "reduce motion", you don't have problems with the white light.

I love the motion graphics and the finger print sensor is my favorite feature. I hope Apple can fix this or I hope I can exchange the phone.

Interesting I'll have to turn off the motion graphics to see if it goes (although I've moved my apps about so can't see it at the moment). Are you getting the white burst when you use spotlight search? I was, but only on certain pages (it only affected the same pages that were affected by the fingerprint ID). I have tried another phone which reacts in the same way as mine (I put my back up onto it) however if I set the phone up as new and them manually download each app, the phone seemed to be fine (but I didn't get to the stage as having as many apps on it that mine has. I have 9 pages of apps, with lots of folders being used on a page with loads of apps on). So I'm thinking is it the amount of apps that's causing the problem, or a corrupt backup. Either way, I don't want to delete the apps as I do use them, and I don't want to do another restore as it took 2days to get it up and running as itunes didn't copy across my music and videos and had to be done manually.

Does anyone else see a bright burst of light when using Fingerprint touch i.d?
