Ios7 problems, safari crashes

This new iOS 7 has ruined the whole ipad experience for me. I use this as a browser, email tool and music library. The browser randomly crashes on a very frequent bases, some times a page opens and other times the same page crashes safari and I have to relaunch. The browser seems sluggish I feel like I just took a giant step backwards. Email is clunky and slow to respond, requires multiple touches to change folders. Music sound terrible, has hangs in sound and generally sounds glitchy. Not at all enjoyable.

I wish I had just kept dismissing the pop up asking me to update.

If you asked me a week ago about the ipad I would have told you it was great. If it was lost or stolen I would run out that day and buy a replacement. Ask me now and I would say good riddance.

Apple really blew it on this one, they took an excellent product and turned it into a frustrating pile of hardware. If ios7 was not intended for the ipad 2 why are their servers pushing it out to devices that they should not.

I have searched and found that I am not alone in these problems but have not seen any solutions.

I have

1. Posted a link to this thread on my social media accounts.

2. Sent links to this thread to The Verge and TUAW.

3. Signed the change.org petition mentioned a few posts back.

Other advice was open an incident with Apple and use Apple's feedback web page (link posted several pages back).

I'm just waiting at this point.

This seems to be a well known issue. Many sites ALWAYS crash upon first navigating to the site, subsequent site visits in the same browser session do not cause a crash.

Kotaku, and EA forums crash every single time I open them in safari, after the crash then they work for extended periods until I close safari. Then, the next time I open those pages they crash again. Always, the first visit causes a crash and subsequent visits do not. I don't understand why this is happening but it happens nearly 100% of the time using iOS 7 on an iPhone 5s, iPad air, and mini.

Is there any recognition of this crashing problem by Apple?

Is there any hope for this to ever be fixed, or is the new generation of devices going to be broken forever?

I have to add my voice to this problem. It is so frustrating that Safari keeps crashing. I have iOS7 and this problem started after the forced "upgrade" to the new OS. It happens on iPad and MacBook Pro.

I am looking at another iPad. But until this Safari problem is fixed, I will not spend any money on Apple devices. Come on Apple...DO SOMETHING!

It workes for me still , i had posted something earlier, with a fix ( yes there is a fix ), but apple didn't post it The problem came from restoration of the installed apps, not backup only of data, restoration of the safari's favourites links, and most of the time from the jailbroken apps installed, not all but some of them. For that case search the net for a fix, and a cause. You'll get it. It worked for me, but i've had to do a force reboot ( power and home pressed ) to work, but it worked in the end, and now i can run it smoothly.

What i hate, AGAIN, lack of support for ... Adobe Flash

When you do a iCloud restore, the apps/software are not restored from the old device - only settings and data - apps are not a part of the backup and are redownloaded. If a device wipe solves the problem for some, it's because if settings/data and not the apps. Either way, it's a fault of the OS and there is no excuse for not fixing it or continue to ignore their customers!

Where is the outrage in the media?

While the crashes on Safari really are a PITA I think my biggest gripe at the moment is the random keyboard. The keyboard randomly and frequently locks up, it will click like it is typing but no type. I will have to hide the keyboard and then touch the screen to bring it back up so i can finish the message. This happens in all apps.

I read an earlier post where some one thinks they fixed things by working through the back door. *** the whole idea with the ipad is that it is simple and easy to use. You should not need a degree in computer science or "hackoligy" to get this to work.

I called Apple a few weeks ago. I was told the problem might have been caused by upgrading iOS 7 via Wifi and thus it missed files that way. I connected my iPad Air 32gb to my Windows 7 laptop and did a device reset via iTunes. The first time I did this I used iCloud to restore and it crashed just as much as before.

I did another reset via iTunes and did not do a restore at all- went through the entire process of downloading etc. with each app. The iPad Air crashes but not as much as before. I use the device mainly for browsing via Chrome or Safari.

I decided to keep the device because this is the only tablet that currently fits my needs. I made sure to buy Apple Care Plus to cover myself for the next two years. It's nuts but I got a nice discount on the device.

I am very surprised that the main tech sites are not covering this issue at all. I posted a review on one of the main online retailers to help others make a more informed decision.

Well several days on since i did the suggested turning off and back on icloud sync for safari ,.. i have not had one single crash,.. my iPad air now works flawless,..long may it continue 🙂,.. maybe this will work for others?

Suggested by Eorpoaa.us on this thread (26/12/13)

try turning off the icloud safari sync, then turning it back on:

Settings > iCloud > Safari : turn the switch off, then choose to remove all safari data on device...

when it completes turning off the safari data, go check if the safari works now. (probably it will, i hope.)

then get back into the Settings > iCloud > Safari, and turn the switch back on.
