Issues with media keys on my MacBook Pro

Hi there,

Just browsed the forum and found a fix which solve the issue in my context: Google Chrome Play Music app was actually swallowing the media keys events, preventing iTunes to get them.

Still don't really understand why it impacts only iTunes in my case, however once the Play Music app uninstalled from Chrome via the Extensions pane of the Settings page, iTunes got its media keys events back.

Re-capping for everyone:

In your Chrome Browser select: Chrome Tab>>>Preferences>>> Extentions (left hand side)>>> Scroll down to Google Play Music then make sure "Enable" is deselected.

Now try the play, fast forward or rewind buttons and it should work straight away.

Other than the "Google Play Music" extension, another app that can hog and disable your media keys from commanding your iTunes media player is the unofficial 8tracks radio app. Took a while for me to get it I thought it was the XKit extension I had for tumblr turns out it wasn't. Hope this helps some people out there.

You should try the replacement keys from Replacement Laptop Keys. They will not disappoint you and will definitely help you. My Macbook’s keys were also stuck some days ago and I got replacement keys from them and my Macbook is running well now.

Other Chrome extensions also seem to do this, for me the culprit was the Plex extension.

Here's what fixed the play, fast forward, rewind buttons on THIS DAY:

I went to QUICKTIME PLAYER and QUICKTIME PLAYER 7/PRO and tried to use the PLAY button for the front video, AND IT WORKED WITH ONE OR BOTH APPS!!

Then I QUIT Quicktime Player(s) and tried it again with iTunes: IT WORKED!!
