My iPad battery indicator is no longer green. It is now either black or white on all apps and all screens except when the iPad is plugged in (then it is again green). Is this normal? I know it used to be green. What can I do to change it back?

I know the battery indicator used to be green all the time. But last night, after charging, I looked at it and the battery indicator was full (100%) and it was green, but when I pulled the plug, it became white. Still at 100% but it is now white or grey. I looked at it in different screen colors and different applications but it is always either white or black, never again green. Can someone please tell me what happened? Is there something wrong and can I get the green battery indicator back? Thanks.

iPad, iOS 7.0.2

I read somewhere that if the background is light, it's supposed to be green, and if the background is black, it changes to white or grey. However, mine never becomes green unless it is charged. When in a black background, it is white/grey and when in a white background, it is black. It never becomes green anymore. 😕
