Moving content to a new Apple ID?

Most of my music library is on the Cloud. I purchased the music/content. I would like to move most all of it to a separate Apple ID account so that it is not linked to the same account that my kids devices, etc. are on? Basically, I'd like to end up with a family account and a personal account. How can I move the content that I purchased to a new Apple ID?

Thanks for the voice of reason Dave. Let me give you an example that might make sense. When dear daughter was little, we opened up a Apple ID under a really cute name...for an 8 year old. Now DD is 16 and is applying to college and wants a grown up e-mail address and, logically, to migrate her Apple ID to that address at the same time. Guess what...apparently she's stuck with a cutesy Apple ID for the rest of her life. This is ridiculous....there are ways to protect the content without locking it into one account. Amazon figured it out, Disney figured it out. Both have content available across multiple devices and/or accounts.

This is not up to your usual high standards, Apple. You've got to fix this. In the meantime, I'll buy my digital content from other companies that do understand this.

No, she's not. She just needs to change the email address that she uses with her Apple ID. She should absolutely not open a whole new Apple ID.

Change your Apple ID - Apple Support

Yes, there are differences in assets - iTunes purchases are individual digital assets that have an owner in the metadata, and could be easily changed to a new AppleID. It's not a technical or feasibility issue - one song purchased, one owner which could be changed by the prior owner (for whatever reason) to a new iTunes library owner.

I started purchasing all my songs and movies from Amazon.com a couple of years ago exactly for this reason.
