ios7 bluetooth issues with BMW

I updated to iOS 7 last week on my iPhone 5, in which I've only experienced problems when paired with my BMW. Detailed below:

  1. While phone is in use (via Bluetooth), any occupant of my vehicle can clearly hear a persistent chirp coming from the speakers (over voice);
  2. While streaming music, tracks are skipping as if a CD is attempting to continue playback after hitting a bump; and
  3. Prior to upgrading from iOS 6, my music seamlessly picked up with the exact track (and location) where I previously left off

I initially believed that code had been built-in for iTunes Radio to began by default until I realized that it was literally music from my library playing in a schuffled sequence...and I have created zero playlists within iTunes Radio for music to even stream.

I've done multiple hard resets of my phone; removed my phone from my car all together before pairing again; and updated to iOS 7.0.2, although nothing seems to correct this.

Has anyone experienced any of these issues, and if so, any success in resolving?

The "straight answer" is you had better not take this all too personally. Many of us have been waiting since November for Apple to take notice and provide some input. None has come. But if you will follow the post, snarky replies and all (which I personally find entertaining, PG 😉) you may find some assistance from other users, as I did. Good luck.

Same issue. iPhone 5S(ios 7.1) , 2012 BMW X6.

If a call is made or received while contacts are syncing, bluetooth disconnects.

I checked my Bluetooth settings and found that my phone was automatically syncing 3 different "address books" with my BMW. They were "phone favorites", "phone recents", and "all contacts". From others above, it sounds like limiting the sync to just favorites works, but, I really use my phone book in the car. So, I thought I would try something else. I unchecked phone favorites and phone recents and left all contacts checked. Since that time, I have initiated 2 calls immediately after starting the car and both have worked. There was a 0% chance this would have worked before. 2 calls is a small sample, but I'm going to continue to give this a try.

See if this works for you.

Ok, I have now tried the above 6 times without a disconnect. I will keep trying, but so far, so good.

Again, I set my bluetooth settings so that my car is only downloading "all contacts" and not the 2 other phone books. I think the suggestions from others re: syncing only the favorites works as well. However, it may just be that they did the same thing by default and eliminated the other checked books, leaving only one. So, it might be that there is a problem caused by having more than one book checked and either of these suggestions works.

I'm not yet prepared to say I have solved my problem, but I sure couldn't have done this 6 times in a row before.

I also changed the iPhone Bluetooth sync and unchecked All Contacts keeping Recents and Favorites checked. Things are mostly stable but not completely so. BMW did replace my Comm box. I suggest if BMW replaces your Comm Box you assure they horoughly test your Comm Box before sending you home with your car. I had to bring the car back because they had failed to test it with my BMW Assist and SOS and had to have the car in order to get those services up and running with the new Comm Box.

I've updated to the latest iPhone IOS 7 update, but I still had Bluetooth on the BMW drop off. I do hope BMW and Apple get their respective acts together soon. Difficult to be productive with this instability.

I am from Poland and have the same problem with my Iphone 5s with BMW X5, 2010.

I have used your solution and now I do not have any problems with disconecting my Iphone from BMW bluetooth.

🙂 I am so HAPPY!

Other think is that spending a fortune for BMW and fortune for Iphone 5S we can expect - that this two ( very complicated gadgets) will work together.

Apple? What do you think about it?

We have had similar issues with a 2014 Mazda CX5 and iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1. and a 2012 BMW X3. I found this on the Apple discussions Mazda thread and it has worked so far. No dropped calls. Hope it works!

Found a solution. Go to settings, accessibility, physical & motor, incoming calls. Select headset. incoming calls revert to bluetooth when in car and phone when not in car.
