Can't delete songs from iPhone 5

When I downloaded iOS 7.0.1 all my songs appeared on my phone. I selected Settings > Music and turned "Show All Music" off. There are still songs that appear in my music files. I cannot drag my finger across them to get the Delete button like the other songs in my phone. How do I get rid of this music?!

Is your iPhone 5 or 5s? I'm in the same boat but just discovered something. I know you updated your phone to iOS7 and can't get the DELETE button when you're swiping it. SO! Go to SETTING->GENERAL->USAGE->MANAGE STORAGE->MUSIC, there it'll show you all the ARTIST. Click on the artist you don't want and it'll show you how many songs you have by the same artist and you can click either song to delete it. Hopefully this helps!

Made a discovery here!!

  1. While your device is connected to your computer (Wi-Fi or via USB)
  2. find your device and navigate to the "music page" in the left column.
  3. *Scroll to the bottom* and you will see a box "Manually added songs," inside which I found my ghost tracks.
  4. Click on the first track, scroll to the bottom and hold shift and click the last track and then click "remove" in the lower right.
  5. Click "Apply" and enjoy your clean slate! 😎

I hope this is helpful for you. In my case, the songs got there by me selecting tracks in iTunes and adding it to my device specific playlist.

I found a solution. I had this problem on my iPhone and my wife's. There was this U2 album and I could delete all but 3 of the songs. I tried everything I could find on the internet and listed here. Finally I realized the album was on my iTunes account. You can't fix this from your iPhone, you have to do it from a PC or Mac. Sign in to your iTunes account, go to purchases. Select music at the top right. Click on the album and a small x will appear in the upper left corner. Click on that and select hide purchase. Then go back to your iPhone and delete the songs by sliding a song to the left and clicking the red delete button. We have separate iTunes accounts and it worked the both times.

I had this problem and nothing worked for me either. Until.......

I got on call to Apple Support as i couldn't get my iPhone and Mac to sync and they told me to go to:

Settings

General

Usage

Manage Storage (in STORAGE NOT ICLOUD)

Music

Then swipe left on All Songs and click on Delete.

This definitely worked for me and I was able to sync again🙂.

I agree with lots of the posts on here and Apple kit can be a pain, but the support I got on my call was excellent and although it took over two hours to solve all my issues, I now know how to sort out lot of stuff myself.
