How can I turn off iBooks iCloud storage?

It's messing with my total allowed storage (putting me over the limit) and I just want it turned off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

OK, I found two ways to get rid of iBooks in iCloud storage:

1) In IOS (11.0) go to Settings and select the first item, which shows your name, Apple ID, iCloud, iTunes & App Store. Then select iCloud and then Manage Storage. You will see a list of apps and how much storage space each one is using. If you select one of the apps you see a button to Delete Data.

For me I can delete data for all the other apps but when I try to select iBooks nothing happens. Maybe it will work for you.

2) In macOS Sierra (10.12.6) go to System Preferences -> iCloud. Select iCloud Drive -> Options and then uncheck iBooks.app and click Done. Then click on the Manage button in the bottom right of the window. You will see a list of apps and how much storage space each one is using. Click on the iBooks app and then the Delete Documents and Data button.

This should remove all iBooks data from iCloud storage without deleting any books from the iBooks app on your Mac.

I have this same question. I spent some time paying for extra storage but when I downgraded my storage to the basic, free allowance, all books/PDFs disappeared from my iPad, and all Keynote presentations had to be downloaded again. I do not need the books/PDFs on the iCloud because I have all of them on my hard drive, but I do need the presentations because I constantly make changes on them. Suddenly, I had nothing at all anymore. I use the iPad for teaching so I have many books/PDFs and many presentations on my iPad. Using my iCloud storage for the presentations is essential.

Important: iBooks is NOT selected for storage on my iPad's iCloud settings, only Keynote. Yet, it still appears on my iCloud storage usage (currently using 419.3Mb out of the free 5Gb) and when I downgraded, it took away all my material. Infuriating.

I have this question too. Come on Apple, the original question was asked almost four years ago and still no useful answer.

My iCloud storage is full and I don't want to pay for more. It turns out that a lot of my iCloud is taken up with iBooks (these are books not purchased from Apple). I would like to just delete all iBooks from my iCloud but I don't want to delete these books from my Mac. I've disabled iBooks under the iCloud settings on my Mac, my iPhone, and my iPad. And yet my iCloud storage is still full of iBooks. This is ridiculous. Does anyone have any ideas how to remove all iBooks from iCloud?

I yearn for the good old days when iBooks were part of iTunes and syncing just worked!

Settings

iCloud

storage & backup

manage storage

(select your device )

Below is all the apps set to back up to your cloud, turn off and delete stored data from any App you like.

Below each App is the amount of cloud storage is uses.

Usually Photo and video are the GB hogs. Use dropbox on your iPod, iPad and computer to automatically download photos you take daily, so they don't need to be backed up to the cloud.

Mapping apps take up a ton of storage.

Books don't usually take up much data, but you may have 1000's while I have a couple dozen.

What exactly did you do ?

Turning off the backing-up of your iBooks app should not affect whether books show in the cloud for redownloading, the actual ibooks (and similarly any music, films, apps etc that you buy from the iTunes stores) don't use up any of your icloud allowance. They will be available in the cloud for redownloading as long as the publisher/rights-holder doesn't remove them from your country's store, you don't move countries after buying them, and you don't hide them from the cloud. PDFs and/or epubs from other sources are not stored in the cloud.

If you've deleted them from your computer you can copy them back from your backup of your downloads/library.
