My ipad will not connect to wifi after upgrade to ios7

My less than one year old iPad Mini will not connect to wifi after upgrade to iOS7. I've done all the suggested fixes. Taken it to public wifi areas (e.g. Starbucks)...no success. Scrubbed the iPad clean and started over...nothing. Upgraded my modem firmware and even purchased a new modem and router....nada. The iPad sees all the networks, but comes back with the "Unable to connect to this network" error. During this time, all other wireless devices in my home were working fine (two other iPads have no problem connecting....they have not been upgraded to iOS7 yet). My free upgrade has now cost me $130...not to mention my frustration and time. I have taken it to my local Apple support center only to be told it is iOS7. I depend on this iPad for work, school and many other things and find this really unacceptable. I now have a $600 piece of junk.

Before iOS7, I had no issues whatsoever so I have a hard time believing it has anything to do with my network. And, to be told I need to be in the same room as the modem/network is insulting.

Seriously considering a Windows tablet at this point.

Same problem here. 2 minis, 2 other iPad's, 3 iphones, Apple TV and more connect to the router, but my iPad does not!

It worked great before.....I went on a trip and used it a hotel and conference center...at the airport and everywhere in between THEN...came home and guess what? No connection unless I am sitting within 5 feet of the router. I have tried all of the tricks. I walk away from the router and I get dropped like a hot potato. SO frustrating!

I am having the exact same issue with my Ipad Mini!!!!😠 I even had to get a new router because my old one died and I even changed the channels to auto and 6 like recommended and it can't hold a connection. It drops out while I'm in the middle of something and have to go back into settings and manually connect to my wifi network!!!

Went into apple today and it was very useless. The guy ran a diagnostic test on the wifi and told me it wasn't a hardware issue - and that all I could do was return in. ( Less than a year old )

Seriously?!?! Why all of a sudden only NOW is this happening after updating to iOs7!!!

Come on apple - clearly I'm not the only one having this issue so figure it out.

Tonight I called apple and talked to this really nice guy. I did another restore but instead of restoring it from iCloud or backup I just managed the apps through iTunes and it seems to have helped with the issue =]. Was told that sometimes if you download a new iOS through wifi instead of connecting it via iTunes there could be slight possibilities of glitches- either way he was way more helpful then the person I'm the store , and also offered a new iPad since it's still under warranty - which the guy in the store should have done . Hope this works!!!

You are lucky your iPad is still under warranty. My daughter has the same issue with her iPad, ( not under warranty)We've been into the apple store twice they still cannot fix the problem and have told me it must be an issue with the hardware which is rubbish because the iPad has been perfect up until the update and I have read so many forums with people having the same issue.

I also had to go into my router settings and change the channels for the wifi , not sure if you have tried that but I changed them to auto and 6 - also set the iPad to high priority. I know it can be really frustrating ESP since it happened just after the update. If you wipe it clean and don't put any of her old apps back on it does it still cut out?

They do a test at the store to see if it's an hardware issue - they should have offered something. I find the people on the phone sometimes are more helpful , if you haven't yet I wod give them a call ..

Gotbeard,

If it worked fine connected to best buy network, and could connect to the hotspot on your phone (while not connected to your home wifi). Why is the iPad the problem?

It seems to me your home wifi is not able to connect. Do a firmware update to the router online. Since you use xfinity, you might want to call them and have them diagnose your modem and router. This might be a case of "Lucy and the Chocolate assembly line"- your iPad being the assembly line, your poor old router and Internet service starring as Lucy.

If your xfinity service is basic, it is very slow.

I have had the same problem ever since I upgraded to IOS7. I thought it was my router at first but then realised my laptop and my Kindle would connect to WiFi anywhere in the house which is what the iPad used to do !!!

It is really irritating and I can't believe Apple haven't done anything about it yet.

Is there any way of reverting to an older IOS version ??

Good news. I tried another go at resetting network in my settings menu. I then powered off my iPad and my router/wifi/box/hub for five minutes. When I powered them up and selected my home router I was again asked for the router password in order to join the network. Until this morning this always resulted in the response "unable to connect to network xxx"

This time though, the iPad coughed, spluttered and blinked a little. AND THEN I GOT A BLUE TICK AGAINST MY HOME ROUTER!

No idea why it should work today, when I tried exactly the same sequence half a dozen times previously. I've also managed to hook up wirelessly to my AirPrint printer - this too had been lost.

I hope others can use this as a fix.
