Beeping during call on iPhone 5s

I purchased the iPhone 5s yesterday and have it on the ATT system. During my first call today I noticed there was a beep that would occur randomly. It sounded as if the other party was pushing a button. This is my 3rd iPhone during the past 4 yrs so I am comfortable in saying it is not a notification. There was also no incoming call during this time. The other party could not hear the beep. This was not an issue on my 4s that I upgraded from.

I have the same issue happening on an iPhone 5S (AT&T). Previously had no issues with iPhone 4

Troubleshooting steps thus far:

New SIM sent out from AT&T. I then restored phone to factory settings. Set up as a new phone. Issue still occured.

Then had phone replaced. Set up as a new phone. Issue still occurs.

Have also tried restoring from backups, issue still occurs.

maybe its someone tracking my calls ,which is why it beeps, so idk if i should try to change my number, but when i go back to using the iphone 4 and even iphone 3, there are no beeps on my phone. the iphone 5s was an upgrade. and the beeping does not occur on calls with other older iphones so not sure what the problem is. maybe there is something wrong with my itunes and upgrading my iphone5s?

i returned the 2nd iphone5s today, and am debating on whether i should get another iphone 5s or try the galaxy s4. but while at the at&T store i used one of their store galaxy s4 to call the other line on my account and noticed it beeped as well!!! i usually call the other line on my account and have narrowed it down to the beeps only occuring when i call the other line on my the account. especially since a random phone in the at&t store i used to call this same person and i still heard the beeps! do you happen to call the same person all the time? or do you notice it occuring on other calls with different people?

my next step is to have the other line on the account sim card changed and reset network settings. im back to using my iphone 3g and when i call the other line on my account i still dont get the beeps.

really confused and frustrated. lets c what happens next!

I have to chime in as well! All I can say is that this is one of the most frustrating and confusing issues I have ever dealt with on a phone. I have owned every single iphone since the 3G, and I know currently own a 64gig 5S. I cannot exactly recall when this beeping on the phone began, but I do think it started with the first iphone 5S I purchased. I would tell my family members, "can you please stop hitting the buttons on your phone" and they would always reply the screen is off and on speakerphone, or their headset, so there was no way that was even possible. It was very confusing to me, seemed to go away for a few calls, and then come roaring back. Depending on the length of a call you can hear it once, or as many as six times, with no pattern at all. I have exchanged multiple iphone 5S's now, and replaced my sim card. So you all know, I have ATT for service as well. It does not seem to be an accessory or hardware issue. I have a follow up call with an ATT supervisor to see what the next step is, but at this point I think it is service related. All I know is that it is the most frustrating experience ever! Let's keep this thread going until we figure out what is going on. Is it ATT only? It does seem to be affecting more than just iPhone 5S's, does it happen on other phones on ATT? All questions I would like to know. In the meantime, my examination of this issue carries on.

I am having the same issue. I called AT&T and had my network reset and that didnt work. I am still hearing the beeps. I do notice its only when I am talking to someone on their cell phone - never with a landline. I too was asking people are you hitting your buttons or did you just receive a text message and of course they would say no. So then I was freaking out because I thought my phone was being tapped. This has to be the most annoying thing to hear. This all started with me with the new update so I am not so sure if it is AT&T or Apple....hopefully next update fixes everyones issues....

Thanks Tara for confirming that, so perhaps it is a software issue. Only happening for ATT iphones though? We need confirmation on that. I think we are going to get to the root of this issue very soon. Apple has been very courteous in addressing the issue however, great customer service on their end. I just wish someone at apple(software development) or ATT could confirm the exact nature of this.
