Beeping during call on iPhone 5s

Is this occurring with the screen to your face?

Is the screen turning off while you're on the phone?

Place a call, put your hand over the upper half of the screen, does the screen turn off?

If it does, the proximity sensor is working and some other issue is occurring.

If it does not, the proximity sensor is either blocked by a case or screen protector or not working.

That is quite interesting that the issue does not occur when using the headset.

Might be time to take the device to Apple for evaluation.

I too am experiencing this issue. I've had 5 iPhones over the years, none of which did anything like this. My issue is with a 5S on all iOS 7 versions (7.0, 7.01, 7.02).

Detail and troubleshooting thus far:

• The phone makes a short beep, like a quick numeric keypad press
• The proximity sensor works fine as my display does turn off
• When I pull the phone away from my ear, the keypad is not displayed
• The person I'm speaking with cannot hear it
• If I deliberately press a number on the iPhone keypad during a call, both I and the person I'm speaking with can hear it
• I haven't heard it while speaking to someone who is on a landline, though given the beeps' randomness, this could be a fluke
• I have not experienced the issue while using my bluetooth headset which I use about half the time
• Sometimes it's once or twice during a call, sometimes >10 times
• I have done a full restore and the issue still applies

Same issue - random beeping and not on all calls. Only since upgraded to IOS7 on 5. Very annoying... Did try to isolate whether it only happened if I answered a call when phone was locked. Never occurs on outgoing calls either.

Mine beeps during outgoing calls and also when I receive a call with screen locked or not screen locked (when I'm in another app fro example).

So it seems to be an iOS7 issue not the 5s, that's a partial relief. Hopefully this will get fixed with an update.

I also have AT&T. While I have not experienced the issue talking to someone on a landline (yet), the beeping occurs for me whether we are sitting in the livingroom or driving down the highway. I called my wife from another room in the same house and I got the beeps.

This happens to me too. I am also on AT&T. To describe the sound, it is like my face is hitting a button on the keypad. I tried the test as described and my phone is functioning properly and the keypad is not displaying at the time the beeping is occuring. The person on the other end of the phone cannot hear the beep.

I have had the same issue, only had it on the iPhone 5s. It's happened on all versions of IOS 7. I have called Apple and I was directed to AT&T and they told me about resetting the phone. Nothing has worked. No one else can hear it on the other end . Has anyone been able to fix this? It reminds me of how in the past if so one was recording your call you would hear a consistent beep to let you know the call was being recorded.

It's very annoying as it is so random, sometimes not happening then sometimes really often.

iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.3: I am also experiencing a constant beep as is used to let you know a call was being recorded. This only occurred when paired with bluetooth, not when using directly. Very annoying, unpleasant, and interfering with the recipient's ability to hear clearly (not to mention mine.) I don't know that they heard it, but I didn't think to ask.
