Battlefield 2 Compatability

For quite some time I've been searching for information regrading exactly how well (or poorly) Battlefield 2 plays on the Macbook. (More specifically, a Macbook using Bootcamp and loaded with two gigabytes of RAM.) Being that my search has yielded no real answer, I decided to take a plunge into these forums. So, does anyone have a video or an FPS count (or both) confirming that Battlefield 2 can be played on a Macbook with two gigabytes of RAM? Thanks a bunch!

I'm sorry to tell you that it probably won't run all that well. Battlefield 2 uses shaders a lot, which will impact performance on the GMA 950 in the Macbook. It might be playable if you reduce the detail significantly, but I don't have experience with how BF2 scales. See if you can find benchmarks for Battlefield 2 running on the GMA 950; it is a fairly standard part.

The Macbook Pro has an ATI X1300 which will run it fine, however, so you may wish to consider the MBP.

I haven't tried out BF2 on the Macbook, so I can't speak from experience, just specs.

That was my inclination, although I was suprised to learn that with 2 GB of RAM the fairly graphics intensive Half Life 2 actually runs really well. Some have stated that Battlefield 2 runs smoothly with the lowest settings, but I'd like some definite proof, whether in support of or contrary to the ideal of smooth gameplay.

The MBP has an X1600, which should handle BF2 at lower resolutions.

Doom III is practically unplayable on the MacBook even with all settings turn at its lowest and with no shadows, effects, etc. BF2 is generally more demanding on hardware than Doom III is.

Does anyone have cold hard data about how a Macbook with 2GB of RAM runs Battlefield 2? Everything I've read thus far has been very helpful, but what I am really looking for is an average FPS count or a video.

Please google "GMA 950" and "Battlefield 2," and you should get some Windows PC benchmarks, which should be good indicators of how the game would run on the MacBook.
