Fix for the "Squishy" Trackpad button - and a bad Genius Bar experience

I have a very squishy trackpad button. They are giving me a replacement model.

I wouldn't let the experience of one person at one genius bar deter you (most of them are very good but occasionally you run into one who certainly wouldn't trouble the scorers at MENSA 😉 ). I've seen other reports of this being fixed by proper case alignment. If yours has problems then take it in.

Awesome little fix, yonnage, my trackpad button and I are back in business! I was considering exchanging my MacBook again (had to replace my first MacBook within the first 10 days because of the infamous palm rest discoloration) but now am quite happy with a short term fix for this small issue. At least if it gets any worse I have Apple Care.. Good ol' Apple Care.

And I also agree with Rod, I had an excellent experience with a Mac Genious here in Burlingame, CA. He was very respectful and made sure to hear me out.

Anywho, thanks for your post! Worked perfectly. It actually feels like my old 12" PB.

I didn't have the issue with the Squishy trackpad.

But, my good friend with a MacBook has it really severely.

For now, I did your oragami creation on mine, and my click got even nicer, like it is much nicer right now then it was.

Hmm.. maybe I should try grass... Cow's don't moo when they're chewing.

The batteries aren't the things getting hot... it's the processor.

Besides, if it were hot enough to make paper combust, the plastic would have begun melting by then.

Being fire safe is a good thing. No reason not to look at something a little more heat resistant. The EMI shielding inside the lbracket cover over the memory would fit the bill b/c it has the rebound property that this trick works on AND it's already in relatively the same location so it should be exposed to practically the same heat.

Better safe than sorry....
