Homesharing and Airplay not working on Apple TV, 3rd gen.

I have reviewed many threads, no troubleshooting, rebooting, etc. is working. From what I have read it seems that everything is set up correctly, and this is something that happened suddenly (ie: one morning it was working, by night time not working) without anything on our system/network changing.


All other functions of the Apple TV are working, and all devices are signed in with the same iTunes ID.

We have followed all the troubleshooting steps.


I have seen the strange tips such as 'don't click the 'done' button after turning home sharing on... These all seem flukey and coincidental; I can't believe that there isn't a logical, across-the-board solution.


It might have something to do with router settings, but I really don't know where to start with that; if there is a specific, current thread relating to exactly the same problem with the same version of iTunes (latest, 11.1) with steps to follow to change software settings for the router I can have someone help me with that but need to know what to look for and what to change, if anything.
