Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 clapping and crackling issues with Logic Pro x new iMac 27"

Hi, I have just purchased a brand new iMac and downloaded Logic Pro x, I also purchased the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface. I have downloaded the drivers from the focusrite website and everything is set up, when I plug in guitar or mic I get really bad clapping and crackling to the point where the sound cuts out altogether. I have changed buffer size and sample rates and everything else I can think of but nothing seems to fix the problem. I also deleted the 2i2 drivers and logic and reinstalled them both but still have the same issue, when I record using the iMac built in mic everything is fine so it's deffinately something to do with the interface. I am waiting to hear back from Focusrite tech help. Does anyone else have this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

has anyone had trouble with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and Garageband? I'm trying to set it up and I'm unable to adjust the recording level....

Are you saying the Gain knobs on the front of the unit have no effect on recording level?

No. When I plug in the 2i2 USB, the recording level control (as well as the automatic level control) in GarageBand becomes inop...as youcan see, they're greyed out..... any help would be greatly appreciated...

BTW... great lookin' guitar!

That would be normal for a pro, semi-pro audio interface.

The input level controls are on the front of the 2i2 hardware, "Gain".

That's one of the inexpensive PRS guitars, they don't make that model anymore.

Any chance you could send me the file you got from Focusrite that corrected your problem. I purchased the products for my teenage son who is extremely frustrated with the same problem. Thanks.

Hi - resurrecting an old thread. The links from focusrite and from art of sound seem to be gone. Does anybody know where I can get the "fix" file for the glitchy audio?

I can only speak for my link... but it was deleted once the problem was resolved with an update to OS X so it's likely not going to be the Fusion Drive problem that's causing your issue... unless you are still running an older version of OS X and therefore an equally old version of Logic Pro X?

So...

If you have updated your Focusrite drivers to the latest version and are running 10.9.5 or later then your issue is very likely unrelated to the problem that was discussed in this thread... as that was resolved a long time ago now and the 'temporary fix' file that was posted up here, is no longer needed.

Assuming you have tried changing the i/o buffer settings in Logic Pro X's preferences/Audio/Devices to higher values.. and that didn't fix things...
