Netflix streaming issue after Apple TV update to 6.0

I updated my Apple TV last night to the latest version. 6.0 6646.65. I have a second generation Apple TV. Up until that time everything g was working just fine. After the update which took a very long time by the way, my netflix streaming has become ridiculously slow. It now seems to buffer a very long tie before starting to show the content. Sometimes it will go on for 10 20 minutes or longer before something starts to stream. I know it's not netflix be be air I can stream

Constent on my other boxes (ie samsung blue ray 0player). I also know that it was working just finery same day before the latest update.

So why is it this slow now? What can be done to fix this? Essentially it is pointless to try an use it at this point.

My streaming speed is 10 to 15 Mbps download, and it is wifi connected.

I did a hard reboot twice and that didn't seem to help either.

Anyone experiencing this and have any suggestions/fixes that works for them?

Hi VancityFam. You may have a bum AppleTV. Are you able to stream TV programs or movies from iTunes without an issue? (If you don't own any content, you might look to see if you can find some free content -- such as a pilot TV episode). Most people on this discussion had a very different issue where they could stream Netflix, but the image quality was very poor. If you live anywhere near an Apple Store, you might want to take the Apple TV to them. They are very good about replacing troublesome devices that are within their warranty period (and sometimes beyond). You might want to check if your Apple TV has a serial number mentioned in the list provided in the article below. I had one. It had intermittent connection issues, and Apple replaced it for me.

i have the same issue. netflix takes a very long time to load on apple tv. i've tested this over and over and even spent 2 hours with netflix support. they could see that there was nothing wrong with my connection and they couldn't figure it out. at the same time all other apple tv channels work flawlessly. hbo go loads immediately and i can stream 1080p movies from my computer very quickly. but netflix stalls forever. once a movie or show starts, it plays fine and the quality is good. but if i start a new movie, then it is wait forever again.

That does sound a lot like the original problem which did affect primarily the Apple TV. However, it went away for just about everyone a year ago. I hope it isn't resurfacing! I hate suggesting it, as it takes a bit of time, but one option you might try, if you haven't already, is to fully reset your Apple TV, which should cause it to download the operating system again. I am just hoping that this might clear up what could be corrupted code (but it is a long shot).
