2.6GHz/i5/128GB SSD or 2.9GHz/i7/256SSD

At the moment I am deciding between 2 computers.

Macbook Pro Retina 13.3" 2.6GHz i5 with 128GB SSD

or

Macbook Pro (Classic) 13.3" 2.9GHz i7 with 256GB SSD

(around the same price)

I will probably upgrade the 128GB SSD if I pick the the Macbook Pro (classic), but that is all I plan on upgrading.

I also plan on keeping my PC computer for storage or also using a HDD flash drive to backup heavy storage users such as photos and videos.

I would really like to know how much the 2.6GHz with the i5 with Retina compares to the 2.9GHz with i7.

*I do not plan on using discs.

**My cousin's mom who works in phones/computers told me to get the i7 because it is a lot better than the i5 but she didn't have time to tell me why. Anyone know what she meant?

MacBook Pro

The speed differences between the two CPUs for the overwhelming amount of tasks will be barely noticeable if at all for the 'normal' user. Additional monies are better invested in storage since 128 GB by today's standards is miniscule. I use 1 TB HHDs in my MBPs.

Far too much emphasis is placed on speed when real world conditions do not justify the additional cost.

Ciao.

I don't really require much space since my PC laptop only used about 130GB over the past 3 years I had it, and most of the files will not be transferred over (like certain heavy games, my photo storage, etc.).

But if anything I could just transfer the files over through external/Cloud means.

I plan for my Macbook Pro to be for college/on-the-go if anything, and I am willing to bring a flash drive for photos/videos if necessary.

If 128GB is miniscule would 256 be as well?

Sorry if I'm so argumentative, I just would like to try out a SSD since I had HDD computers my entire life.

I really just want to know the difference between the i5 Retina and the i7 Classic, really, and what you would pick given my scenario.

Thank you for the information, however!
