On basically every cell phone on the planet, if you have it plugged in and charging, it will in some way try to alert you when it finishes charging the battery. Unfortunatly, not all cell phones will disconnect the power from the battery once it's done charging. That means that you are still providing excess power to the battery, and overcharging it. Since overcharging a battery of any kind, including the Lith-ion ones in an iPod is bad, I want to make sure the iPod disconnects the power when it finishes charging. Does anyone know for a fact if the iPod does in fact have this feature?
eMachines T3406,
Windows XP,
Very fast now that got more RAM...
If you look at the ipods battery symbol, when its charging it shows a lightning bolt
When its fully charged, the battery shows a plug inside the battery, that means the iPod is running off AC power at that point.
This article has a test if you suspect battery failure, theres also a TON of helpful battery information linked off the bottom of the page. Explaines how the batteries work on the ipods.
hmm, exciting... i've been to that exact page about 5 times before... and the lightning bolt and plug are kinda hard to not understand. it's just that sometimes, things aren't as they seem. thanks for trying to help though.
