Fred Davenport

Your screenshot shows iTunes Radio in the Music app.

YUP, That's what Fred was asking about, iTunes Radio

Internet Radio in iTunes is not the same as iTunes Radio in iTunes.

I know.

And there is no Internet Radio in the Music app in iOS.

Yes there is, I just posted it.

The Music app does have iTunes Radio.

Correct again.

You said,

No.

iTunes Radio does not have radio stations.

Again, that's false.

iTunes Radio is all about the music, not local broadcast radio stations.

The only available "local stations" are NPR, which only came to iTunes Radio in June of this year. It was not available when Fred posted last year.

ESPN is the only other "News" station available.

No other local station are available.

This may change but Apple has not announced anything.

Many stations do have streaming via Internet Radio in iTunes and via a web browser but not via iTunes Radio.

I understand but Fred Davenport wasn't asking about Internet Radio proprietary of iTunes, he was asking about listening to his local radio station through iTunes Radio.

So how many other local radio stations (or even not local) that are not NPR can you get?

Fred never responded but most likely after iTunes Radio was released, he was looking for the radio stations available as they were prior to iTunes Radio.

It was explained how to get these in iTunes.

Well Freds question was in October 2013 and iTunes Radio came out in June 2013. So his question wasn't prior to the release of iTunes Radio

I never suggested it was.

I suggested Fred wanted Internet Radio, which by default was not visible in iTunes and many people thought iTunes Radio replaced Internet Radio. It didn't.

But it does look like most radio stations are not available on iTunes Radio.

Correct. No other local stations are available. Only NPR stations are available.

Other stations are available via Internet Radio in iTunes (and we are back to the beginning of this thread)...

There is a big difference with internet radio if you want to use a certain system: Bose Soundlink. The Bose Soundlink speaker won't work on wifi unless you use iTunes, and you must be streaming a station via the Mac program. At the top of iTunes, a little arrow appears - air play. If you go to a website (I go to France musique, and Voice of Russia, for example) air play won't work, at least with Bose Soundlink.

But... I hope I'm wrong with the following - to find a foreign stream station in iTunes, you have to comb through category after category of stations "International, College" etc. and there a good chances you won't find what you are looking for. The "seek" function in the iTunes radio seems to be for for the Store, not for finding stream stations.

(I also have a new Bose Sountouch wifi system which is much easier and more efficient than iTunes, and which does not require it.)

Please, somebody, tell me I am all wrong and that there is an easy way to get any streamed station i want via iTunes without endless quests.

This is false. You can stream just about anything form your Mac to the Bose Soundlink (via Airplay).

System prefs > Sound - Output device and select the Airplay device you want to stream audio to.

It will.

You can use any (just about) app or website you want for music.

I use iHeartradio & Tune-In radio.
