Would numbers be good for stock control

Hi Yellowbox:

I realize how far back this post goes, but I'm new to numbers and am a small jewelry shop with diverse inventory and many styles of adornment. Could numbers be a viable way for me to track my inventory and my sales? It would be great if there were a reasonable system I could use to stabilize inventory concerns and progress with my metalsmithing.
