Powermac G5 Fans go full speed

I have a Powermac G5 here with all the fans running non stop. The Mac works fine and the temps look ok.

things I have tried with no success :
update to 10.4.7
reset nvram
reset Pram
reset smu/pmu
Ran ASD with no errors
Thermal calibration (failed, failed to read fan speed).

Tried to run it without the AJA card just for kicks.
Swapping the clear panel. Tried different fans.

I am trying to try and test everything before I report it through GSX. I would like to find out what the exact problem is so I can order the part through GSX. The G5 is still under warranty.

I had the same fan issue. I tried to ignore it until a started getting a red light coming on in the front of the tower! I called Apple Care and they said take in to the closest store. I did, but they didn't find anything. I took it home and the next day the red light came back on. I called Apple Care again asked them to send somebody to my house this time. The guy came and replaced the board/radiator assembly and did a thermal recalibration and I haven't had any more issues. I think the thermal re-calibration is the key to all the fan issues.

This is what worked for me. I have a FW HD and FW CD Burner plugged into 2 ports on the computer. What I did was unplug the FW CD burner from the computer and plugged it in directly to the FW HD... essentially reduced my FW conections to external devices from two to one... and the problem has not reoccoured. I also found on my home system that I was having trouble getting my external FW HD and my iPod to be recognized after the .7 upgrade. Again, driving the iPod through the external FW HD solved this issue as well...

This is what has worked for me after the upgrade to 10.4.7. Your results may vary.

G4 1GB + G5 Dual Mac OS X (10.4.7) Plenty of RAM on both systems + External FW devices
