Music disappearing from phone ios 7

Ever since updating to ios 7 (and still with 7.0.2), some of my music has been randomly disappearing from the music app. I'll select a song, then the song will then skip to the next song and onto the next and so on until it finds a song that plays. You can see the artwork of the record(s) flip many times and the song track name change. If it can't find a song, it will dump me back to the Artist list. I read a few other forums where beta testers were reportin this back in July, but couldn't find any resolution. My only real resolution is syncing the phone with itunes, removing all the songs & podcasts, then putting the songs back.

I do have a few ideas on what is causing this. I'm big into podcasts and sync my phone with itunes many times a day to make the played/uplayed list on the podcast app on the phone and the podcast section of itunes match up perfectly. I figured to rely on my phone to look at what was played and then have the podcast in itunes be marked as played, but this doesn't happen all the time... the phone keeps the played podcasts on the phone (when it shouldn't) and doesn't put all the unplayed podcasts on the phone. I would then mark what was played on the phone and then in itunes and sync the phone again so only unplayed podcasts show on the phone and sync again. During this second sync, the "waiting for changes to be applied" shows on itunes for a long time before finally completing. I feel this would be the cause to my problem, the syncing one after the other after manually correcting. I'll see if manually maintaining my podcasts on my phone and itunes will prevent the issue, but I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem

No buddy,I didnt unplug while it was syncing. In fact it takes too long and the message comes "updating" but I guess something goes wrong at that time and the ghost files appear.I have put the music all over again but some playlists are empty 😟

I guess only Apple can help with this software glitch either by updating the itunes or the ios...god knows!

Yes my friend..Lets wait for an update for itunes...I hope Apple guys read this forum/discussion....I have deleted that corrupted file once again and will not add more songs as it will again make the file corrupt and make songs disappear even though they seem to appear! Thanks for your help because even though I cannot add more but atleast I can listen to what exists.Atleast we know where the problem lies. Now its upto Apple to fix it...Stay in touch regarding this. Thanks again!

Hi everyone, just add me on the list of the frustrated people (iPhone 4S, iOS 7): I also have songs disappearing from my iPad and iPhone, either randomly, or when hitting the play button.

I'd like to add another new fact: I had a list combining videos and mp3 files from an author, in iTunes. After proper syncing, that list disappeared several times from my iPhone, sometimes before, sometimes after I had the chance to listen to any of the audio files. So I created two different lists, one with audio files, the other with videos only. After that, the lists synced separately in Music and Movies, and haven't disappeared anymore. Occasionnally though, some of the Music tracks still disappear randomly...😕

I hope someone takes us seriously at Apple. I ordered a new iPhone 5S 64G recently and would like it to work perfectly, given the investment... 😠

I also want to add another new "discovery", since someone suggested before to use in:play music player instead of Music. I browsed my songs with in:play, just to try, and found that several tracks are labeled "Song not available". In fact, songs labeled as such in in:play just disappear when played in Music.

The conclusion is that in:play uses the Music playlists and doesn't solve any issue in iOS 7.0.4.

I'm still shocked to see how many songs are corrupted in my Apple devices!! 😮

This is happening to me as well. Happened after some erratic auto syncing - it would auto sync for a week, then pop a message saying it hasn't synced for weeks and I'd have to do it manually, then it would auto sync for a while until popping an error.

Anyhow after erratic syncing on my Iphone 5 I was pulling out of the driveway and noticed my phone was syncing. I was already out of wifi range. So I can support that this might be an artifact from "pulling the plug" during a sync.

27 GB of my 45GB library shows up but won't play and as others said, the phone flips through songs to get to the next one that can play. I'm mad as ****. Hoping the fix in this thread helps.
