Unable to change colours in iCloud calendar?

Yesterday, October 8, the carefully selected colours for each of my calendars abruptly changed to a new palette on all of my Apple devices (iPad, iPhone, Mac Pro and MacBook).

When I changed the calendar colours back to the ones I selected on the Mac Pro, they reverted back to the new colours within seconds. I tried then to change back to “my colours” on each device seperately and within seconds they reverted to these "new" and unwanted colours.

Suspecting something with iCloud, I logged into my account online and discovered that everything had switched over from the old skeuomorphic version to the new iOS7 icons and colours (I don't log into iCloud very often, it does a pretty good job of synching everything in the background).

I really don't like the new colours iCloud selected for me (pink, purple, peach and red) and I don't know why it didn't pick something similar in the new iOS7 palette that is close to what I had selected and have been using since the me.com days (grey, blue, red and green).

Here is the problem: When I change any of my calendar colours in the iCloud calendar, they immediately default back to new colours, and not the ones I have just selected! I have carefully followed the Apple’s help instructions (“Change a calendar’s name or color”), but it makes no difference, almost instantly the colour reverts back. For example, I click edit, click on the colour blot for my Work calendar, change my Work calendar to green and it reverts instantly back to an ugly purple. I have tried closing the Calendar app on all my devices – no joy. I have powered down all of my devices, thinking that this might be one of my devices overriding iCloud, but also no joy. Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated as I have now hit the frustration stage 😢

Thanks.

For me, the problem is unfortunatly not gone:

- The calendar colors on my devices (iPhone, MBP, DT Macs at office & home) seem to be OK.

- The calendar colors on the iCloud website are NOT OK, for the ones with custom colors they are "fixed" to something ugly.

- I CAN switch the calendar color for "customized color calendars" to one of the default colors.

- But when I try to change the "customized color calendars"-color to any customized color (either directly or after selecting a default color), those "customized color calendars" stick to the ugly color that iCloud (Apple) assigned to it. It does not help to "save" the default color, or to log-out after saving the new default color.

Also, changing the color of these "customized color calendars" at one of my devices does NOT sync to the iCloud website color. It stays the ugly color that iCloud (Apple) assigned to it.

Having posted only today my difficulty with this, I finally found the resolution. On my list of calendars on my I Mac, it shows two separate calendar lists. At the top the one original one done on the computer and below it another for iCloud, on the side bar. Whilst with Mavericks the originals don't seem to be able to changed, they can if you go into iCloud.

If you click on Calendar in iCloud, you have a list of your calendars in the side bar with colours. Click on Edit, bottom right of sidebar, and click on the coloured dot on whichever one of the calendars you want to change colour. This brings up a colour chart. You can change this colour using the chart. When finished click done.

Returning to your calendar, if you have an event already in this particular calendar and want to change the colour , make sure you open it with it clicked on the iCloud list, not the original. Once opened and closed again, it should appear in your Calendar in the new colour. It maybe that all events in the Calendar automatically change to the new colour. I had couple that didn't, and by doing them individually they did, but most changed immediately without further action, having changed the colour in iCloud.
