Cannot delete three unwanted songs on iPhone 4s - iOS 7.0.2

I have three songs on my iPhone, two from a Final Fantasy X soundtrack and one an Ed Sheeran song (irrelevant, I know). When I slide from right to left on other songs which I want to keep on my phone, the red "DELETE" button shows, but when I do it on any of these three songs on the "Songs" tab of my music library, nothing happens. I cannot remove them. When I go onto iTunes, they are not in my library and when I go onto "On this iPhone" on iTunes, it does not show them. Similarly, I have two movies just like this which I cannot delete from my phone, and do not show in iTunes. Please help? I'm rather pety about consistency and tidiness and having three random songs is annoying me horribly. Thanks.

I have the exact same problem. Three songs, I think they came with some iTunes "holiday gift", they are songs by Maroon 5. I want them off my phone but just like you:

1) They do NOT show up in iTunes Music library on my PC

2) They do NOT show up in the "Music" tab for my iPhone in iTunes on my PC

3) They do NOT have a cloud-icon on my iPhone

4) They can NOT be deleted by swiping

5) They do NOT disappear when you set the "Show all music" to OFF.

I have iPhone 5 on iOS 7.02

Annoying stuff like this will really make me reconsider Android-phones on my next plan-renewal. iTunes is way too much hassle!!

Open the Sidebar in iTunes and see if they're in the "Purchased" playlist. I had two such songs that appeared there and also in iTunes' "On This iPod" page for my Touch but were not actually on my Touch. They were also counted on the iTunes "Music" tab for my Touch and appeared at the bottom in "Manually Added Music", but deleting from there didn't help, as they would return when I sync'd. However, I deleted these songs from Purchased, and that solved the problem.

I don't use iCloud, so it shouldn't have been a factor for me, but it was still strange, as I could play the songs from the "On This iPod" tab even after I removed the songs from the iTunes library on my PC and synced, which by itself didn't remove them from "Purchased". Now I have no songs in "Purchased", my iTunes library has exactly as many songs in it as I have files on disk, and my Touch has exactly as many songs on it as are in my master playlist I sync. This is with iOS 7.0.3.

I don't want to listen to my son's Alvin and The Chipmunks songs...that is the only 2 songs on my iphone and I have done the same steps as jon8979 and still won't go away!

I have the same issue but with iOS 7.0.3. However, if you wipe all your songs and painfully pull down from "Purchased" in iTunes (vs syncing off the cloud or from iTunes on your PC/Mac), you can control/delete what you want. Sound ridiculousness (for 800 songs)? This was the suggestion given to me by the "Genius" at the local Apple store.

Also have a secondary and more annoying issue when you do delete songs and then go back and select a song to play (under Songs on the music app), it plays the song above it. Super annoying. This is cleared by going out of songs, going into artists and playing a song, then going back into songs. Deleting songs seems to be the trigger to cause this glitch.

2 hours on phone with Tech support and 2 hours in Apple store with new phone issues and issues still occurs. I think this would be what you would call a bug.

How fall the Apple has fallen from the tree.

I believe I have figured it out!

I found this thread while having the same issue. I had 2 songs I wanted to remove but nothing I did seemed to help. Try this (if you have purchased the unwanted songs from iTunes in the past):

-Go to iTunes

-Go to iTunes store

-On the right side, click on Purchased

-Find the album/song you want to delete

-Once you have it up, click the "x" on the upper left hand corner of the item

-Check your device (if connected to your computer/iTunes) to see if its gone!

This worked for me, hope it works for you =)
