ios 7 not multitasking apps

Has anyone else noticed that since the new update, apps aren't "multitasking" properly? It seems like a lot of apps that used to remain running are now restarting everytime I switch back and forth using the multitasking option. Like, I'll have a game of solitaire going and then get a message, and when I switch over to check the message, when I switch back to my game, it restarts. Kind of annoying. Also happens with Angry Birds and many other apps. Anyone else notice this?

I have been irritated by this problem for some time and only now went digging for a solution and found multiple threads on the issue. Mostly rants... Anyway what SEEMS to have (at least temporarily) resolved the problem for me was closing the extremely long list of apps that had accumulated in the background down to the few I am currently actually using.

Double clicked the home button to see the list of apps to switch between, swiped right until I got to an app I haven't used in a long time and swiped up on its preview to unload it. I must have swiped to unload 30 apps or so, some that I hadn't actively used in a few months.

For now switching back and forth between apps doesn't result in reloads or page refreshes (gmail did it once but it apparently had crashed and told me so, which was an absolute first).

I have exact same behavior. Did a complete reinstall to see if it would help... Nothing. Moving from app to app entails a pause as as each app restarts. Wish I could go back to iOS 6. Games are the worst. Scrabble saves a screenshot but reloads, relogs back into fb, and takes me back to the home screen if I switch out to answer a call, check mail, etc. it's a huge step backwards in functionality.
