icloud aliases e-mail replies on iphone or outlook/mail.app shows primary icloud account

Hi Everyone,

I have 2 big issues with using icloud e-mail aliases wich is for me a HUGE BUG.

first one:

When using mail.app or outlook or iPhone ios to reply an email using one on the three e-mail aliases i have, the receiver always receives the e-mail with my primary account info.

But when sending replies from icloud.com i don't have that same issue.

Second one:

I created in my iPhone and icloud a personal signature for my primary account, there is no possibilité to create one for the aliases but the issue here now is that when doing a quick reply from my iPhone with my e-mail alias i need to delete my primary e-mail signature that is each time showing up.

This pushes me to use other e-mail providers but i do not want to do this and i also do not want to create a second primary apple id!

As of now i am forced to use each time ICLOUD.COM to reply an e-mail that is sent from my icloud-alias wich is very often and annoying!

Is there a solution for this, has any body already encountered this issue?

Kind regards,

Hi-Tech

In the Mail application on your Mac, go to Preferences>Accounts. Select your iCloud account. In the 'Email address' field check that your aliases are included there - if not, add them, each separated by a comma.

When you create an email, you can then select the address you want to in the drop-down 'From' menu.

For greater convenience, go to Mail Preferences>Composing and set the 'Send new messages from' drop-down menu to 'Account of selected mailbox'. This will automatically send replies as from the address the message concerned was sent to. (This is as on Snow Leopard but I assume it's the same or similar on later systems.)

I can't answer for iPhones but there may be a similar facility.

(And incidentally, you can't expect an answer in seconds in these forums: it can take some time - someone who knows the answer has to see your post and compose a response. It's not like a chat room.)

Hi Roger,

Your given "solution" has already been tested but no difference.

When sending the mails from my iPhone, outlook or mail.app i always indicate from the alias, and the aliases are included in mail.app.

and for your remark below:

I DO know what a FORUM is and i know also that if you do not get an answer in de 48hours following your post date that you will likely never receive an anwser, my post was unanswered during 3 days and was already 6 or 7 pages further. I know nobody that goes that far to read posts and reply the unanswered.

If i had not replied "no body" you would have never seen my reply and given your solution!

So next time keep you remarks that are unfunded for you and stop treathing users as teenagers (chatroom)

Kind Regards

I just ran a test. As I hadn't added one of my aliases to the 'Email address' field in Mail I did so. It then appeared in the drop-down 'From' menu in the 'New message' pane. I sent a message to my Yahoo account; it arrived with the alias as the 'From' address.

I have my Mail>Preferences>Composing 'Send new message from' menu set to 'Account of selected mailbox'. I sent a message from Yahoo to the alias address. When it turned up in Mail I created a reply; the 'From' drop-down menu was set to the alias address.

So it all does work in Mail, at least in Snow Leopard. As I say, I can't test it on an iPhone, not having one.

Hi Roger,

no issue for the mistake.

I tested again with selecting my alias, i don't have the issue there but when do i need to select is manually as when i send my replies my alias is pointed as "from"

But mail app is not the issue but iPhone and outlook.

as i have my mac at home but iPhone and outlook from my work and there i can not succeed by sending a correct reply.

As i noticed also is that my seperate folders in icloud are not showing up in outlook...

Kind Regard
