How do I turn off the "cellular data is turned off for "podcasts"" message?

I keep getting this message or one like it for every app with the cellular data turned off when I am not connected to wifi. Is there a way to make this message go away like the don't show message in the future option windows gives users? I understand it probably helps users that aren't very knowledgable when it comes to using their phone but I do and it is very annoying. It was less annoying a message like it for location services but now I have to tap away the message 10 or more times a day.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2

well said! It is just like apple was plastering us with unwanted adverts! I've had macs since the quadra 950 and love love my iMac and my iPhone and my iPad but I really, seriously hate these "cellular data is turned off..." notices for podcasts and audible and others! If they would pop up and go away it would be one thing, but you have to stop and clear the screen every single time!


I have found using an older audible app does help there. It still shows up but not very 30 seconds.


This could be fixed - for whatever reason apple does not want to fix it.

I totally agree with sadeveloper regarding the driving hazard issue with the annoying pop up message. I use my phone as the bluetooth music player for my cars stereo which is totally legal and no different than pressing buttons on the car stereo. I often wonder how many peddestrans and passengers have been killed by this idiotic and pointless message. Apple treat their customer as brain dead zombies. As if we need to know the cellular data is off every single time. Surely anyone that isn't actually brain dead can figure out the cellular data is on or off. This has been a major problem for years since they introduced it to OUR phones. As they constantly ignore this problem, I guess apple are deliberately trying to thin the herd.

If anyone is unfortunate enough to kill someone driving, I strongly suggest they point out the blame to apple in court, maybe then they might get their act together. Then again, I'm sure they don't give a **** and will do diddly squat about it....

I thought I would jump in quickly and also voice my concern along with the many others here.

I see now that I am not the only one with issues on this annoying message popup.

One should be able to turn it off. Is apple even taking notice?

I would like to point out the obvious about this message popup: After the 100th time (it seems daily), of course I know it's turned off. Do you know why? Because I turned it off!

p.s. I even get this stupid message when going to the settings. Forking **** this annoying and as pointed out by fellow posters here, it is destroying the experience.

I totally understand mate, especially with the negative connotations of the work break. On a subconscious level, it implies I'm going to break it. But after all it's just firmware coding that bypassed the pop up messages. Unfortunately apple will never address this problem with the cellular data pop up. The shear volume of complaints here is a testament to that. We have to remember, with the cellular data turned on, the phone surreptitiously sends your personal usage data to apple and the app developer of which ever app your using. Although this may be sold to us as a way to 'improve the app,' but personally I don't particularly want my data on a server somewhere. Although I have nothing to hide on the phone, I would like the option to keep my personal data getting out there to a minimum as I get enough spam emails as it is. Anyway, I know it's not ideal, but it works out the problem. Welcome to big brother room 101😉

The only solution I have found for this issue is to simply keep the app "open". It doesn't drain your battery, and since the data is turned off anyway, it won't use any. You'll only get the annoying message when you open the app the first time, but if you leave it open and let it alone in the background, it won't come up again. Very stupid issue after all this time. My story is, I am in Afghanistan and have to buy "minutes" for my phone, including data. So I turn off data for as many apps as possible; if I leave them open, they will use up all my minutes (load) and I could easily burn through $50 in a day or two. SO I only leave data on for iMessages and 1 or 2 other apps.

I can't believe it's March 2016, and I'm finally over with these extremely annoying popups. The solution, for my 4S on 7.1.2 was to combine these two solutions, previously posted on this forum:


1. Settings / General

Scroll down to Restrictions, enter your passcode and select Enable Restrictions

Scroll down to the bottom of this list and click Cellular Data Use, select Don't Allow Changes


2. Settings / Control center / turn off (access within application)


For me, the first solution wasn't enough by itself. I am posting this update, in case it helps others.
