How do I turn off the "cellular data is turned off for "podcasts"" message?

I keep getting this message or one like it for every app with the cellular data turned off when I am not connected to wifi. Is there a way to make this message go away like the don't show message in the future option windows gives users? I understand it probably helps users that aren't very knowledgable when it comes to using their phone but I do and it is very annoying. It was less annoying a message like it for location services but now I have to tap away the message 10 or more times a day.

You are not alone in this very annoying and stupid problem. It makes it worse when you get a equally stupid response like the one from "anilsudhakaran". This is one of those issues that no matter how many times we ask the question and show that something needs to be fixed but get nothing but silence from apple.

This particular problem is acutally become a driving hazard because you want to be able to listen to a podcast or audio book in the car but keep having to respond with more taps to this ridiculuous popup message before you can do anyhting else with the phone.

Unfortunately one of the other posters is correct. This problem will never get fixed as it is done for two very distinct reasons

1) Apple wants the support and advertisers want the apps to have cellular data access. Hence they make this annoying notification so that you will conform.

2) By obtaining your conformity, you phone will drain the battery faster. You will eventually tire of this and tend to upgrade your phone hardware i.e. a new phone.

There are probably several good ones, but I bought iCatcher. It imported all my saved podcasts and subscriptions, but you have to go in and reset your settings, such as how many to keep. Some extra features: rate your favorites so they download first and you can set up a playlist so if you listen for long periods, maybe on a long drive, you don't have to mess with the phone.

Yes. Since AT&T subsidizes most iPhones, and some people get whopping bills for inadvertent data use (yes I got walloped!), it stands to reason they have influenced the Apple Podcast coding. Some on this topic have advocated a "jailbreak" but I'm too scared to do that. This is such an effective way to hose people, and make them buy bigger data plans, that I bought some stock in AT&T! It hasn't gone up but pays a good dividend.

That worked for me (turning off control center access within apps) - the message didn't show up when I launched Instagram afterwards. Well... I thought it worked. As I was typing this post I launched the myAT&T app and got the message "Cellular Data is Turned Off for myAT&T"...

There should be an option within the "Cellular" settings to turn off messages / alerts reminding you of your purposeful decision to limit which apps can use cellular data. I AM USING WIFI - STOP TELLING ME ABOUT MY CELLULAR SETTINGS. Thank you.

Yeah, that guy isn't a dick is he..... hes a manager and doesn't even know his product? And why on earth would apps like SETTINGS really need to access the Internet apple? REALLY? Using the data allowance I PAY FOR? It really annoys me when you have a genuine problem but have to speak to an idiot who hasn't a clue..... Like when my internet was down, they told me to reset router, disconnect all phone cables from the wall.... I was like if I do that I'll lose the call...! They say "yes but you can call back".... Oh, thanks, I'll call YOU back eh! And then get through to ANOTHER person only to go through it all again..... turns out they were about as helpful as a snakebite and I worked the problem out myself....

anyway, I digress.......

The way I've found that works is to go into GENERAL, RESTRICTIONS (Setting a passcode if you haven't already) and the down to CELLULAR DATA USE. When in the next menu check "DONT ALLOW CHANGES".

since I've done that I haven't seen the message on my 5s Running ios8

No sense of humor dude. I've had Macs since OS 6. Couldn't tell you how many macs include an Xserver, classic, PPC series, G4 series, quad tower, MBP, iPhones since gen 1 through current 6plus, 2 apple TV's (3 if you count the one that fried its network), iPads etc. I'm a true supporter of Apple. But that doesn't mean I have to me a mindless follower nor do I have to think they are the best at EVERYTHING. I'm entitled to think they aren't perfect.

> tlhintoq, click the (apparently) highlighted follow arrow up above. I'd call that plain and obvious but maybe you're at work and not seeing everything?

Thank you. Actually I'm at home with no restrictions yet not seeing any 'follow' widget. Even a search of the page only shows 'follow' in the text of our posts. Maybe it doesn't appear in Firefox: Maybe I have to reopen the page in Safari just to see that. Hmmm... Back in a bit from that browser.

OR - It could be just as telling when someone realizes its pointless to whine about here 10 pages deep, publicly points out as you and others have done that Apple won't/doesn't listen to its user-base and fix this... unsubscribing here just say "There is not point since they don't listen - HOW SAD ON THEIR PART".

I posted 3 times that this IS RESOLVABLE because I've done it through a j.a.i.b.r.e.a.k. tweak. But those posts keep getting deleted because it advocates an unauthorized process. And probably because that 3rd party control panel does resolve the problem and Apple doesn't want it out there that it is easily turned off - thus showing that they CHOOSE not to turn it off for whatever reason. Probably because advertisers want it on, and because AT&T and Verizon want it on.

It really isn't even that complicated for Apple, all they would have to do is create an option in notification Center under settings to turn off notifications for the settings app because that's where all of these notifications are coming from. They act just like notifications for other third-party apps.

So forward this idea to them under the iPhone feedback area, if everyone in the discussion did it, we might just find some answers in the next minor firmware update.
