Forum Bug regarding not seeing new posts

I've posted this here as many users are reporting forum issues where they will get a notification of a new post made to a thread but they cannot see it.

This is a forum bug which Apple is aware of... and are trying to resolve but in the meantime here are two (somewhat impractical) fixes i have found...

1) Open the forum on a different Mac or Apple device and the posts will show up... Go back to the original Mac or Apple device and they will not appear unless you make a new post in that thread yourself... after the missing posts.

2) Post a new reply and then any posts made prior to your new reply will show up

It is not a cookie related problem as cleaning out the cookies does not fix the issue Its odd as if this is the case then how is this bug only specific to one Mac? Something must be tracking something, somehow but it doesn't appear to be via cookies....

Quiting and restarting Safari nor restarting your Mac, doesn't fix it either...

If anyone finds any other workarounds, please post them here....

Just for clarification, the forum does not use Apple software, it is Jive software and they have to work through them for resolutions of any problems.

"Jive" in the negative sense = half arsed. Why does this software periodically go south, seems like every 3 or 4 months the Forums fall apart.

Because it is by far the largest and most active forum that there is.

I would imagine the release of iOS 7 and the new iPhones have resulted in the latest problems.

If you know of better software/servers that can handle this I'm sure Apple would like to know about it.

Deggie's full stop, decimal point, call it what you will, is the workaround. I used it twice this morning (after writing a fed up, saucy letter to the hosts) and it worked.

Click on 'reply' to the last post showing, add a dot instead of a comment then click on 'add'. And bingo, the previous posts will show.

Yes, as I said in my first post.. Creating a reply (be it a proper reply or simply a post containing a single dot) this is one workaround to see the missing posts..... in a thread.

Did anyone notice that signing in to the forum solves the problem? Although I'm not certain if this always is the case!

You cannot reply without signing in first! But sadly that does not solve the problem!

Yes I know that, but I was referring to another situation where I get a thread notification by mail, I open the thread and do not see the new message, I then sign in et voila here it is. And in my situation this has, until now, always worked.

You have been lucky. I am signed continuously, but still most of the post are missing, when I go to them from an email notification. My "." key is rather worn out by now from using it to force posts to show 😀

How are you signed in continuously? I've been finding myself signed out automatically. There are times that I could be signed out in 5 minutes, an hour, 2 or whenever. It's completely random and what not.

At first I thought it was because I signed into another device. I mostly use my Mac Mini, and some times my iPhone. But then I noticed that some times I was signed into both at the same time. So my theory of it signing out of one device to sign into another went out the window.
