Drop down menu of text for Pages

In Microsoft Windows it is easy to create a box with a series of statements in a box so that you can click a dropdown menu and select one of the text statements. This has a multitude of applications. I want to be able to select a particular curriculum item which relates to the documentation I am preparing for parents and school exeuctives to see the intentional teaching choices I have made, or how a child's learning relates to national curricula.

Apple's Pages does not seem to have this option. Does anyone know of a work around that can create it? I wonder if the function I have read about in Numbers is transportable into a Pages document. Or is there another word processing app which has this function?

Not sure what is the limit on the amount of text for Auto substitution, but it is worth experimenting with as it is built in. I tried 1024 words, more than a page, and it works fine. Just can't have returns in it, they will be ignored.

Just use an unusual sequence eg ]\1, ]\p, ]\f, ]\r or ]\pass, ]\fail, ]\resubmit

]\ because they are next to each other, and thus can be typed quickly and are unlikely to be used elsewhere.

I can see that auto substitution is applicable to a few charcters. I need to view and select a from a series of curriculum categories (5-8 words) or curriculum items (a sentence descriptor).

I need toknow more about 3rd party macro applications. Do you have a suggested name so that I can investigate these further? I'm happy to get actual recommended prodcts or examples of what these are.
