Does anyone know if Avira (the anitvirus program) is safe?

I was looking for an antivirus online (for free) and came across Avira. Does anyone know if this program is safe or has used it before??

Anything would help! XOXO

Yes, it's safe. You don't need antivirus software for your mac, but if you elect to run AV software I recommend ClamXav

Avira is a legit Mac anti-virus program, with fairly decent malware recognition rates. It's not the best there is, but not far from it, in terms of detection. As for how it affects your system (in terms of stability and performance), I have no personal experience with it... or even second-hand information, for that matter.

I would advise reading my Mac Malware Guide. If, after reading that, you want to install anti-virus software, I would use one of the programs it recommends.
