My MacBook suddenly started running slow

Hello! I've had my MacBook Pro for since 2010 and it suddenly started running slow. This has been going on for a week already. I've restarted my MacBook many times and when I'm not using it I shut it down. I've tried many things to make it run faster and deleted 14k files that were mostly text documents, pictures, videos, etc. and deleted my whole iTunes library hoping it would work but nothing. I currently have 77.07 GB left but space has never been the problem since in the past I've had 10GB or to the point where I had no GB and it still ran perfectly. Two things I've noticed is that when it gets hot it starts running slow and also when I start watching videos on youtube or ones that are already in my MacBook. Last night I reset my SMC hoping it would work better and it only ran slow because of the heat but I see no change. I'm trying anything possible to fix this myself before taking it to the Apple Store and spending money on something I could've probably fixed myself.

Here's some information on my MacBook

It is also important what you did with CleanMyMac: when you "cleaned" som "unimportant" system files, like binaries and a lot of languages, the damage is enorm, and in the worst case you have to start all over: format your disk, reinstall freshly downloaded apps and bring back all your user data by hand.

MadMacs0 knows how to help you there.

I am a bit in time squeeze and a very unpredictable calendar.

If you are running Yosemite, Startup Items don't load at all, so removing them would have as much of an effect on performance as sacrificing a cockroach to Zeus. It seems to be one of the hallmarks of etrecheckism not to know that, or much of anything else.

Anyone else finding this horrible thread, please don't add to the horror. Search the site for answered questions similar to yours. If you don't find anything helpful that way, start your own discussion with a full description of the problem. You'll have as much chance as anyone else of getting a useful response, and a much better chance than you have by posting here.

Yes, of course I realize that, but as I tried to explain, they may be indicative of an equally obsolete software installation elsewhere. My recommendation was to remove the entire Huawei installation, not simply the StartupItems.

Solutions to your problems have all been posted to this discussion already. If you are too lazy to read it then you need to start a new thread where you will get more help faster and much more up-to-date than continuing to clutter this already way too old/long discussion.

Sorry, but that's just the way this forum works best. I'm not picking on you, just trying to get you best help in a timely manner. Almost nobody is paying attention any longer here.

Yes your harddisk is suspect.

After making backups, restart in the Recovery Partition (Startup while holding CMD+R) and choose DiskUtility rom the menu. Do "Disk Repair". See what it finds. If OK after the repair you have still time to remove some of the crap from your computer, before installing a new disk: this has the advantage that you can make a clone, which is not a good advice to do as it is now.
