Having the same problem here. Worked last night, not working now. Changed and re-changed all my setting. No difference. Unplugged ATV, no difference. This is getting REALLY annoying. Just got past that **** problem where purchased shows wouldn't play from the purchased menu and you had to go through the store to get them to play.

Have tried Airplay via my iPad and that's working, but this is stupid. Why should I have to go through this to get it to work?

Definitely considering ditching Apple, especially as I'm just about ready to update my phone and tablet (was just waiting for iPad 5). If this isn't fixed EXTREMELY soon, it won't be an iPhone or iPad I'll be getting and I won't becoming back to Apple.

I do not know if you are experiencing problems with renting or purchasing items from the Apple TV through iTunes, if so see: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5446101?answerId=23399558022#23399558022 to determine if there are the same problems you are experiencing. I have spent over 6 hours on this issue trying to isolate if it is a hardware, software, network, iTunes account, or Apple device issue. My initial results indicate it is a software specific issue related to the Apply TV hardware device.

I have had the same issue. Purchased movies will not play through Apple TV. They continue to try to load with no result. I can still play the movies on my computer but that obviously doesn't work for me. I updated my software recently so this may have caused the problem. I have never had an issue before. Am not willing to pay $19 to attempt to get a solution on a $99 piece of equipment. Would rather rent movies elsewhere if Apple does not provide a solution to this asap.

Having the same issue here! Purchased a movie, have to wait over 2 hours to start playing ( but never does). Downloaded the movie on my PC and could not airplay it to my apple TV. Downloading on my mac and suspecting it is going to be the same because it cannot airplay other purchased movies. The entire **** apple tv is super slow.

This is becoming beyond frustrating...

I have restarted everything (modem, wireless and wired switches, computers and apple TV) and yet I'm still getting the same low performance despite having a speedtest.net of 12 Mbps download and a 30 Mbps tests from my internet provider and good performance on netflix and flickr on my PC and mac boxes. The network test on the apple tv is also saying that everything is fine with a 10+Mpbs expected performance.

I'm up to date on every single plateform (win 8.1, mavericks and whatever version is the latest on apple tv 2nd Gen).

😠

I think I solved my problem i.e. AppleTV does not post my 'movies' from iTunes. The movies that were not displaying on AppleTV were mis-classified in iTunes as either "music" or "home movie" under the Get Information/Options/Media Kind. I changed those to "movie" and I also checked that they all were designated as
"Multiple", "Computer" and "AppleTV" under the AirPlay icon (located on the iTunes banner, just left of the volume control. That seemed to do the trick.

Same issue. Customer service told me to play movies from iPad. Now we're waiting 45 minutes for the convenience of uploading in order to watch. I could drive to Best Buy and back before it downloads.

Also, we may watch four or five episodes and then the next one shows the spinning wheel. It may say to select a lower resolution, which does nothing, and show that it has 25 hours to download. Once the time showed over 100 hours to download. I know it's just an error.

So strange that Apple can't help with this.

One fix I know will work I I'm not buying anything else from iTunes. The least they could do is grow a brain cell and string together a logical answer.

Same issue here too. Rent a movie, watch it. It stops and when you try and play it again its and endless loop or press play and goes back to the page you press play on after looking as if it will advance for a few seconds. None of my purchased content will play. I then update the software to the newest version and it did the same thing. Played the movie for a few, stopped and would never start again after stopping - always looping back to the play page,

All these people having the same issue around the world. I buy a lot of Apple products and love their set up but this is annoying. fix it! I use Apple TV every day with Airplay and the TV /movie, and HULU etc.

I have solved my issue. Apparently, my apple tv and wireless network have started a feud! Going through the router was getting me nowhere ... fast! I've switched back to a wired connection and everything is working flawlessly.

Not sure why the router was an issue since it is working ok with my macbook pro...

Seems that restarting everything was not enough after all.

Good luck for all of you with still active issues.
