I recently bought the iPhone 5C. I tried connecting it to my car, a 2013 Kia Optima, and I only get a display screen on my phone that says "trust computer/Don't trust." This means I can't listen to music in my car. What's the deal?

I'm assuming you're connecting to your car via Bluetooth correct? Are you able to take a screenshot on your phone of the error you're seeing and attaching it to this reply? You can do this by pressing "Sleep/Wake" and "Home" for one second.

I'm not trying to pair it via bluetooth...My car does not have that feature, I can only connect the phone via bluetooth for incoming calls and that it is. I'm trying to connect the phone to my car via USB cord (the same cord used to charge the phone on the computer, wall-jack, etcetera)
I'll try to go take a screenshot of it for you.

I would trust it. I doubt your Kia will be doing anything malicious to your phone. Test playing music afterwards and let's see what happens.

That's the problem. I can't hit "trust" as it pops up and then goes away, pops up and goes away, etcetera until my car's display screen says "Unable to read USB" and switches back to the radio.

I'm having the same issue with 2011 Sonata.
For the Kia try this. Make sure the phone is paired to car. Hit AUX button on radio. Turn phones music on.it should be able to u the Bluetooth with out cable. I can do this on my 2012 Sorento
Same problem. I'm connecting with a USB cord in a 2010 Kia Soul, using an iPhone 4S with full update (no jailbreak).
I tried this, but even with the phone connected via Blue Tooth (phone calls worked), when switching to Aux the radio just read "No Media".
I found the answer! A standard USB to 30 pin plug, EVEN AN APPLE CORD WON'T WORK. You have to use a special plug from Kia. Here's a link to see and buy one .

I went to my local Kia dealer today and bought one ($29). They had one in stock. Works like a charm. I can now listen to my iTunes library right from the phone, or I can pick music from the stereo controls. It also charges the phone.
My only complaint is the cord isnt long enough to reach my phone holder when plugged in. The parts guy advised me that it's best to have it unplugged when starting the car because the surge can damage the diode.
