Albums within Folder

Albums within Folder

Please forgive me if this question has been answered. I did look through these discussions but didn't find my particular problem. I'm new to Apple with a new iMac and trying to switch from a Windows PC. I have finally figured out (through reading an iPhoto manual and online questions) how to create a folder in iPhoto with albums inside it.

My question: When I open my folder, should I see individual album icons? All I see are all the photos that were in the albums. They are loose, not connected to any album. Is that the way it is supposed to be or is there some organizational tip that I totally missed?

The albums inside the folders will be shown below the folder in the left hand pane of iPhoto:

To see the albums in the folder click on the triangle to the left of the folder.

Click on the folder and you'll see all of the photos in the albums in the window at the right.

Click on any specific album and you'll only see the photos in that album.

Thank you OT. Let me double check with you to make sure I understand. In my left pane, if I click my Folder is it correct that I do not then see a group of Albums in the right pane. Instead I see a group of photos. I guess I was used to how Windows operated. If I had a folder labeled for example Items for Sale, inside that folder would be other subfolders - one for each item that was for sale. If I clicked the main folder I would then see another group of separate folders. I had to open one of those subfolders to see the actual photos for that item.

In Mac, if I open my folder that says Items for Sale, in the right pane I immediately see just all the photos that are in all the albums. I don't see individual subfolders or albums.

From what you are saying, it sounds like that is the way it is supposed to be? If so, that's fine. I'll work with it. I just want to make sure there isn't a way for me to click on the main Folder and see just a group of Albums (without the photos mixed together).
