Apple tv will not play purchased movies

Hello,

My Apple TV, as of last night, decided to stop playing movies I have already purchased. I spent an hour trying to trouble shoot the issue myself with no luck. Everything else seems to work as it should, Netflix streams perfectly, even the previews to any movie, including the ones I have purchased. When I select the play option of a puchased movie it will authenticate if needed, then go to the loading screen as if its going to start playing. A couple second will go by, anticipating the movies timeline will pop up and the movie to start playing, it will just kick me back out to the movies cover screen (screen with the movie I want to watch with its preview, play, and more.. buttons).

Somehow it feels the link between my account and the movies ive purchace is broken... apple obviously knows ive purchased them since they are in my purchased bin... I just cant watch them. Furstrating... Im not going to spend $10 bucks on a movie to see if the newly purchased movie will work either.

Things I have tried:

• Restarting Apple TV – not solved

• logging out and back into my itunes account – not solved

• Restarting unit to factory settings, installation of newest software w/ reconfig of network settings, logging back into itunes account – not solved

Any help would be appreciated.

• Apple TV

• Modle: MD199LL/A

• Software: 6.0(6646.65)

• Full Signal Strength with network

• Internet works perfectly fine

Thanks

Hi JohnStreet,

My husband came up with a work around solution that might help you. My husband selected the movie we wanted to watch and pressed play on the computer iTunes and let it play for a minute. Then paused the movie on the computer and went downstairs and selected the movie on AppleTV. You are prompted to resume or start the movie from the beginning and he selected resume and the movie starts working.

This is obviously not an ideal situation but at least you can watch something.

Hope this helps.

I'm having the same freaking problem. Was on The phone with Apple support 4 times. Restarted, reset, re-everything and nothing works. Everything on my Apple TV works fines except movies. The timeline sits there spinning forever and the movies never start. Today I took the unit to the store. They did a restore and completely killed the tv. Was disgusted that I went in with only iTunes not working and when they were done nothing worked. I was given a new 'refurbished' TV, brought it and nothing worked properly until it was done with 4 freaking updates which took over an hour. And again everything works except iTunes movies. Even the trailers crashed numerous times while playing. I can't believe that Apple cN't solve this issue.
