Apple tv will not play purchased movies

Hello,

My Apple TV, as of last night, decided to stop playing movies I have already purchased. I spent an hour trying to trouble shoot the issue myself with no luck. Everything else seems to work as it should, Netflix streams perfectly, even the previews to any movie, including the ones I have purchased. When I select the play option of a puchased movie it will authenticate if needed, then go to the loading screen as if its going to start playing. A couple second will go by, anticipating the movies timeline will pop up and the movie to start playing, it will just kick me back out to the movies cover screen (screen with the movie I want to watch with its preview, play, and more.. buttons).

Somehow it feels the link between my account and the movies ive purchace is broken... apple obviously knows ive purchased them since they are in my purchased bin... I just cant watch them. Furstrating... Im not going to spend $10 bucks on a movie to see if the newly purchased movie will work either.

Things I have tried:

• Restarting Apple TV – not solved

• logging out and back into my itunes accountnot solved

• Restarting unit to factory settings, installation of newest software w/ reconfig of network settings, logging back into itunes account not solved

Any help would be appreciated.

• Internet works perfectly fine

Thanks

My AppleTV was having same problem; could not get any purchased movie to play. Kids become a bit ... impatient. Tried workarounds listed to no avail. Saw that output to TV had become set to 720/60 - while that is a good setting overall, I normally use Auto. Reset to Auto and - it works! No reset or other actions after change to this one setting. Hope this saves someone from my frustration.
