I too am getting the "Moving calendars to server account" pane when I open iCal

I too am getting the "Moving calendars to server account" pane when I open iCal. All fixes I have read seem to involve turning iCal off an on and/or rebooting. I cannot touch iCal. All is grayed out in iCal and in iCloud system preferences. I am using 10.8.5 and iCal version ... Well, that is grayed out too. Waiting a really long time does not seem to help.

Hello

Just upgraded to 10.9 (from Apple download)

I am having the same problems with ical connecting to server pane and calendar freezing.

I followed your instructions (with my IT guy), which worked (AFTER we DISABLED all icloud)

.. HOWEVER

Cannot sync anything - contacts, calendars, not even manually~Just upgraded to 10.9, but ipad and iphone 4s are still on IOS 5. 1 and will not even sync manually. I spaced out on the IOS6 upgrade and that is now no longer available.

So I read that possibly ICAL is CORRUPT nd that I need to remove cache phist files. . Any advice?

At this point, I am not interested in using ICLOUD for anything. I just want to be able to sync my calendar and contacts so that I can function.

thank you!

melisolaris' comments work only if the option for unchecking the Calendars and Reminders is available.

For many of us in this post, this option was greyed out (even forced quitting and restarting, and then waiting for 30 sectonds).

Clearing the Calendar Cache enabled this option and then I could follow that of melisolaris.

To clear the calendar cache

1: Go to Finder

2: Select Go Menu

3 Select Library Folder in the drop down menu (if you cannot find Library Folder then also press the option key while in this dropdown menu, the library folder should appear - then select it)

3: Select the Calendar folder

4: Delete file named Calendar Cache

Once this is done then you can:

1: Close System Preferences (if its open)

2: Open System Preferences

3: Select iCloud

4: The Calendars & Reminders option(s) should now be available (not greyed out) for you to deselect

5: You man need to repeat steps 1-4 above

This worked for me and I really hope it works also for you, since I share your frustration with this error.
