iPhone5 shuts down at 20%-30% battery since new IOS7 was installed

Ever since I installed the new IOS 7 operating system the day it premiered, not only do I have battery issues in which it drains quickly (seems to be a common occurrence) but now if I am using the phone (app, imsg, etc) when it gets down to about 30%, sometimes 23% the phone completely shuts off as if it was at 0% battery life (I say that exact number because it's been at exactly 23% on a few occasions where the phone shut off). The icon pops up that looks like a drained battery with an indication to plug it in, and when I plug it in the phone turns itself on immediately and then works fine. I was told to reset it, hard reset it etc, all of which I tried and to no avail. I have spoken with someone from Apple and they are telling me I need a new battery. The phone is just over a year old (so of course, they won't cover the battery replacement even though the issue started about two weeks ago and it's now two weeks past it's 1 year warranty), and I highly doubt it's a coincidence that the battery is suddenly acting up after the new operating system update. Is anyone having this same issue? Helpful comments would be appreciated. Thanks :)

I've got the same problem, iPhone shuts down at ~35% and shows the 'plug in charger' sign. In about 10 minutes I can restart the phone (still 35% battery left), but within minutes it will shut down again. When I plug in the charger, it starts up and shows 35% battery left. Yeah, right...

Apart from this with iOS 7.0.4 my battery will lose about twenty procent and go from 81% to 62% overnight while in flight mode!! 😠

@apple this is really annoying! Please fix this.

I don't weigh in much but I feel the need to here. Since installing IOS7 I've had all of the above problems listed and even after a full hardware reset the problems are still persistent and not limited to:

-phone shutting down with 20-35% battery left and showing the "please plug in your phone screen". Then when plugged in all is ok with the phone.

-battery % showing (for example) 7% left and then when plugged in jumping to 30% or more.

- huge drops in battery % when phone is idle & in flight mode

- restarting itself randomly in the middle of app use (no one specific app that is)

Clearly something is plagued in the OS in terms of battery reporting. Apple, please take notice to this and fix ASAP. For someone who travels an awful lot in multiple countries it is a huge burden when I loose access to maps &/or other pertinent info.

So i noticed that my iOS crashes more when I am outside in the cold. I can not understand why this is the case. But I took a series of videos yesterday in the house. I went outside with 40+% batt. took some video of the kids sledding and bam a crash within 30 seconds of video.

I did another test after giving the phone a little charge. 48%. went outside and bam crash. I am not saying that it never crashed inside in the warm. Just seems to be easily triggered when out in the 27 deg weather.

Anyone see this?

If I was not in contract I would really think to switch. Once the contract is up I will think real hard.

Hello Apple. I know there are only 1000 of the millions of customers complaining. But you are losing some long timers here.

I have also had this issue and noticed it is more prominent in cold weather. It was anywhere from 10-20 degrees fahrenheit outside and my phone was in the car for a couple hours and when checking email it powered down, I tried to power it back on and it showed the screen that indiciates you need to plug it in. This was with about 80% battery left. I noticed that it would power off anywhere under 20%, so this was a surprise and I hope they fix this soon otherwise I will be looking at other non iOS phones.

I've had this same problem as well with my iPhone 5 ever since updating to iOS7 on its release date. Phone never makes it beyond 20-30% without shutting down.

As everyone has said for such an expensive product to have an incredibly poor battery life and reliability is just now on, and for a company such as Apple to give no response to its loyal customers is even worse.

I like most have been a loyal Apply fan/ customer for years, been through several iPhones, Macbooks, iPads etc but using an iPhone that won't even last a full day and randomly shutdown anytime I get close to 20-30% is not on. Especially when lots of people around me are using the Galaxy or some other top range phone and have never had the basic battery problems the iPhone has.

I'm not sorry to say this Apple but this is extremely poor service for your customers and this will probably be the last iPhone a LOT of people will buy!
