Okay I have Kinda Of A Basic Complex Question... How Do You Install Leopard On Tiger??? PowerPC Only!!!! No Other Mac Computers...

I was recently given a Power Mac G5 (PPC) by a friend of mine to be able to use for our multimedia business. The PPC came loaded with Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.1. Now my first dilemma was that when I went to install Logic 8 on the system I recieved an error message that "this version of logic requires a minimum of pro application update 4.0 and prokit version whatever" either way it didnt work. I wasn't really bothered by this at first until I realised that finding pro application update 4.0 would be about as hard as finding waldo. Eventually after hours of looking I located the update on of all places the Apple site I initially started searching on all to find out Tiger 10.4.1 does not meet the minimum requirements to install this update. So I came to the conclusion updating my OS to Leopard 10.5.8 would be the best possible outcome and hopefully meet the minimum requirements to run Logic 8. My friend just happened to have a .dmg file from his previous installation of OS X Leopard 10.5.8 on his other PPC which I had to burn to a disc (using THIS PPC) in order to be able to boot. Which brings me to where Im at right now. I cant get the disc to boot no matter what I try. Please help!

You can update Tiger to its final version 10.4.11 via Software Update, or download it directly:

The 10.4.11 Combo Updater for PPC Macs is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL170

Then you should be able to install Leopard, BUT note that install disks from another model of Mac may not work as these are machine specific. You may need a black retail install disk of Leopard from Amazon or eBay.

check memory. Looks like you needs lots of it.

Ok first off thanks for the responses guys now heres whats going on. Klaus1 I tried what you recomemnded already with no success. I'm currently trying again for craps and giggles. Actually seems to be working so far... rccharles I meet all the system requirements for Logic 8 (Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 2 GB DDR SDRAM) except for the OS apparently which was my reason posting. Success! It seems to have updated my OS to 10.4.11 so now I will try to install Logic 8 again and check back with you guys momentarily

Alright so after installing Logic 8 again it says "this version of logic requires Pro Application Support 4.0 (687.0) or newer. Prokit (589.0)" I have yet to locate these on the Apple update sit at least by that name. So my secondary issue is resolved but I still haven't resolved my original one. Do you guys have any clues as to how/ where I can download/install this Pro Application Support 4.0 or newer and Prokit (589.0) so I can move on with my life???

Uh correction. I used the upgrade link to 10.4.11 and that worked however I dont have Leopard 10.5.8. That still wont install from the disc. The computer tries to upload it and then goes into this hyper drive that mimics a a dirt bike or large vaccum cleaner so I shut it off... What am I doing wrong here?
