Not built-in, but, HW, if you have downloaded and installed Devon WordService you have a command for that in your Services under the Pages menu. I think I remember your being advised to use WordService in the past, so you may already have this capability. If not, go to Devon Technologies and download WordService.

Once you get it, you will have to put it in your HD > Library > Services folder and then activate it System Preferences, Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts, Services.

oof. thanks jerrold. i think your level of expertise is a bit above mine when it comes to numbers and functions.

i have redone all of this by hand but basically i was hoping there was a way to make all my cells (i think i had a thousand of them with multiple words in each) magically change to lower case. so if in column 1 row 1,2 and 3 i had:

ROCK DEMOLITION

ROCK DISPOSAL

BUILDING DEMOLITION

i was hoping to easily get:

rock demolition

rock disposal

building demolition

wayne was kind enough to point out that there is a pulldown menu in Pages to do this - and somehow i was remembering that i did this one very easily - and i was hoping there would be a way to do this in numbers.

anyway, knowing that i need to keep my eye out for Services that will streamline other workflows may be as good a tip as i have had on the forum in a long time so THANKS.

i'll keep trucking and i very much appreciate your trying to get me sorted on this one. i think my expertise level hindered me in finalizing it to some extent.

Hi HW,

"there is a pulldown menu in Pages to do this"

The menu items, found in the Format menu, change only the format in which the underlying text is displayed.

The functions UPPER() and LOWER() replace the text with its UPPER or LOWER case equivalent.

Lower, part of Devon Word Service, tested in Pages, also replaces the text.
