[HELP] Can't power up MBPr - FileVault

So I went and bought an Apple MBPr from a Pawn Shop downtown, and it is in top condition. I want to wipe it clean, so I rebooted and held CMD-R. Long behold, there's a Lock logo with a password entry. I tried entering the password to the computer (which I set), and it didn't work.

Did a little reading online, and tried rebooting into targetted disk mode, and now it always boots to that lock. Can't even login to the computer regularly.

Please help me reformat my disk! Thank you!

That's a firmware password. In most cases it is set up by its old user, but sometimes it may appear accidentally, so reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

If it does not work, take the MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller and they should reset the firmware password without any problem, or return the MacBook to the pawn shop, as the firmware password makes the functionality of the MacBook limited

The color did change, however the lock remains.

Is there really no other way to do this?

I don't want to go the Apple Store tomorrow :|

There is a trick in old Macs, so you just have to remove the memory modules and install them again to reset the firmware password, but this does not apply to new computers, more in the case of the MacBook Pro with Retina display, which has got the RAM soldered

I just heard that I need to be the original owner for them to do this for me?

Is that true?

I'm not the original owner, however, I'm certainly the owner, I just bought this from a Pawn Shop for $1225. I have a receipt as well.

It's possible, but I don't know if Apple will accept the receipt from the pawn shop. I don't think you will have any problem, so it's better to try it
