I was disappointed that it was no longer available, but I did not watn to add it as a bookmark. I wanted the toolbar back. To download the entire Google Toolbar to Safari go to http://www.bbshare.com. If you want to check out the video where I found this link, it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4lbQC70cfM.
I hope this helps. This discussion forum has helped in many ways and I was glad to finally be able to contribute something.

That only works for Safari on a Mac, and not on the iPad. (This is the iPad forum)
On the iPad you can search from the Address bar directly. This will open google (or whatever search engine you have setup for it) and search for whatever you typed there.
This is not a new feature. There isn't a "toolbar" in Safari in iOS, per se, and there has never a way to add anything. And as Phil said, searching the web from Safari in iOS is still a single step. Apple has just now combined the search bar and address bar in one. Just enter in your search terms is the single field.
Regards.
Before I "upgraded" (what a mistake!) I had the Google search on the righthand side, always ready to go. I could stay on a page and type in a word whose spelling I was unsure of and as I was typing, the correct word would always appear on the drop down menu. One could often get enough explanatory information from dropdown without leaving the page Again, even enough info on a subject would appear to allow me to continue coherent reading on the page I was on. Now, one must completely leave the page, go to google and then try to get back to where you were to start with?
CAN I UN-UPGRADE?

False.
Typing your word on the Address bar will reveal the same exact dropdown. Once done, you can press on cancel, and you will be left back on the page you were on. No reloads or navigation necesarry.
The address bar now includes the search section that was previously separate, but functionally it still works the same way.
And no, you cannot unupgrade.
You cannot downgrade an Ios version.
You can however go to
Settings> Safari
and select google as your default search engine.
The main address bar behaves as both the old left and right hand side depending on what is entered.
i.e., if you enter a word it will give the same behavior your used to. if the entered text is not a qualified url it will use it as a search term.
If it is a url it loads appropriately.

Rob

This is an annoying new feature. So, now it's three steps to search the web instead of one? Way to go, Apple!
3 steps? Just tap on the address bar and type your search. At most its 2 steps if you consider tapping a step.
Not sure what more you want.
Apple does not support downgrading the iOS.
Tap the plus sign to add a new tab and type your search.
