How to locally sync an iPhone with OS X Mavericks? iCloud is NOT an option.

Its not about hiding, we all know that. Its about principal. I want some control over my life. And it’s creepy to be followed everywhere you go virtually or in reality. I want my freedom to leave the house for an appointment when ever I feel like and without anyone knowing that this is what I was planning to do (I’m actually glad that neighbors would see me). In real life I have friends and they all have given to me their contact info. I do not have right to be giving away to the whole world what they gave to me in good faith. It’s my obligation to protect their personal info. That is why, I want the info to stay in my local network.

This topic is about finding the way “to locally sync an iPhone” - iCloud is not the solution so please restrain yourself of promoting it. I’m aware of iCloud’s values and easiness, but this is not what many Mac users on this forum want. If I feel that someone pushes me toward iCloud, the more I become suspicious that something is hidden in that attention.

Agreed, 110%. Every time I'm forced to walk into an Apple Store, same iCloud sales thing happens.

That is exactly what we are saying here. It’s not necessary to persuade into using somebody elses server and give us local syncing back (contacts, calendar, reminders, notes and bookmarks) so that we can have a choice. Then I will judge for myself what is the best way for me and how can I lower the chances from my info to be misused.

And no one has to use iCloud. Or Window's SkyDrive or Google's Cloud. No commitment to use them whatsoever. Hundreds of millions of people do. Some don't. Some prefer ony to syc their mobile devices when they are near their computer. Too restrictive for many. What is your point? Do you have one?

Stop with the hypocritical pontificating. If you don't like what's going on take your business elsewhere. It's as simple as that. All this simplistic moralizing and blathering about your privacy and choice in an increasingly homogenous, public, non-private society is just hot air. The NSA probably already knows more about you than iCloud ever will. If they can spy on the Chancellor of Germany you are easy pick'ins. And there's NOTHING you can do about it.

I sure hope this puts an end to the sanctimonious pontificating and moralizing about privacy and choice on the Apple discussion forums. As was pointed out to one of the pontificating offended ones, the NSA probably already knows more about his calendar and contacts than iCloud ever will. And if the Chancellor of Germany can be spied on then his personal data is easy pick'ins in comparison. The constant moaning and whining of these types is quite irritating.

This thread I'll wager is aimed primarily at those, who for whatever reason wanted a solution to a feature that was removed and has now been returned, or could help with its return. The OP doesn't own the thread of course and neither do any of us others but I'm pretty sure his intention wasn't to be besieged with answers like, 'If you don't like it move on, or 'No one is forcing you.......'

In fact I'd suggest, (only he can confirm of course), that what he wanted was restoration of the original feature.

Now the feature is still Beta, so hasn't been restored to the OS, the thread therefore is still active and valid. It is unfortunately full of people moaning about moaning which is twice as bad. Or would that be Moaning²?

The O.P. titled the thread where "iCloud is NOT an option" when he freely admitted it WAS an option that he CHOSE not to use for personal/political/fear reasons. That "can pay won'y pay" stance opens the whole argument up for the kind of debate that we have seen and enjoyed for months.
