iPhone 5S restarting itself
Anyone else having their 5S sporatically restarting itself? So far, there seems to be no pattern, other that I'm usually playing a word game on it when it happens.

I have a white iPhone 4s 64 GB. I have been experiencing the reboot less often lately, but it just happened today on 7.0.4
It often happens for me when I've just brought up the multitasking app switcher, so if it is related to Touch ID, that makes sense since my finger is on the button. I'm not sure if it has ever happened before when I was not touching the button. Before reading this thread, I'd just assumed it happened during more graphics-intense things.
I used to use app switching much more often than I do lately, so that might explain why I experience the reboot less often now. Has anyone else found it happens mostly on app switching?
Me too.
I had been getting several restarts per day. Tried restore but it did not help. I read that turning reduce motion to off would fix it. I tried and it worked. Turned it on and got restarts. Turned it on and got restarts again. It makes no sense but it worked.
Glad u found a fix. But my motion is already off. My phone only resets when using finger print reader to unlock phone. Happened after ios7. Which ever. Fixed the part where people were able to bypass lock screen.
Mine crashed in fingerprint as well. The other thing I did was reduce the number of apps that background updated.
App background refresh kept to 3 apps. And always keep number of running apps very low. Hoping new update tonight. Ios7.4 I think. May help. May not.
I have tried all these things, when mine restarts there are no apps running. Apple got back to me and the person i spoke to informed me that it is definitely a software issue and replacing the phone wouldn't help. He has now referred my issues (diagnostics ) to the engineers and will keep me updated.
My 5s also restarts randomly. I have noticed that this happens specially when I am playing heavy games like Infinity Blade II. I am seeing this problem since 7.0.3. I have updated to 7.0.4 and still the problem is there.
I am having the issue as well in my iPhone 5S on Version 7.0.4. I don't know why it's just restart alone while I am using it.!! and I haven't even had one month since I bought it !!đ
same here new iphone 5s la little more than a week and it already has the reboot issue. even it is only a few seconds but it still disappointed.đ
I am also having a problem with the phone dropping and looking as though it is rebooting - blank screen and Apple logo - though I don't think it is actually performing a full reboot as the "reboot" screen is only on for a second and it doesn't require me to physically input my PIN and refuse fingerprint ID as a full reboot normally does. I find that it usually happens when I am messaging.
Hopefully this is a software problem and Apple will provide a fix quickly.

Yes, Im having same issues running iPHone 5S iOS 7.0.4. Start to restart yesterday. Today it restarted even during phone call. Interesting is that Ive stopped hearing my colleague on the phone but when it come back again phone call was still opened and running. Interesting. Hope this is not hardware issue.
Mine is now doing it twice in a row every time it happens. Enter phone with finger print, touch an app, restarts.
Mine is doing it twice in a row each time. I enter phone with fingerprint, then touch an app, and it restarts. Hope they get this fixed soon. I have tried all the easy stuff. Restore, reset, closing apps....
Success! đ
I contacted the Apple Support service via the online assistance yesterday and they took me through the steps to diagnose and fix this problem. This has worked for me and it seems that my problem was a software one.
I connected my iPhone 5s by USB to iTunes.
I then made a backup (even though I usually backup over WiFi to iCloud) to iTunes.
I then selected RESTORE IPHONE.
I restored it as a NEW IPHONE and as this was going on a 'fix' message from Apple also came up and asked me to approve it, which I did. So the restore also incorporated an Apple fix.
Once the iPhone was restored I then restored my backup.
Everything is working perfectly and no restarts and no problems with the Touch ID.
If you want to be absolutely sure of the steps above (I am not an expert and I may have recalled them incorrectly), contact Apple Support directly through their online chat facility. They were quick, excellent and the solution was found. đ
